The Eagles met the asking price for Tony Gonzalez, and they were still turned down!

Now that the trade deadline has come and gone, a lot of Eagles fans are left scratching their heads at why the Eagles did not trade for Tony Gonzalez when they absolutely needed a playmaking tight end. Well, you can't say they didn't try. ESPN's NFL insider Chris Mortensen Reports that the Philadelphia Eagles did indeed offer the Chiefs asking price of a 3rd rounder for Tight End Tony Gonzalez. When initially turned down the Eagles threw in another piece to sweeten the deal but the Kansas City Chiefs still did not accept their offer. The Chiefs are telling everyone that they did not receive what they were asking for. Well, they asked for a 3rd rounder and the Eagles provided a 3rd round pick plus another pick/player for the Hall-of-fame bound Tight end and they still did not make the trade. This has left Tony Gonzalez scratching his head and feeling disrespected by the team that he has done so much for.
