Found May 13, 2008 on NE Patriots Draft:
With the rash of recruiting scandals involving Reggie Bush and OJ Mayo at the forefront of the national consciousness, it is time for us again to revisit why we make some aspiring NFL players jump through the hoops at the college level. Maurice Clarett and Mike Williams both found out the hard way that the NFL is as tough in the courtroom as they are in between the white lines, but should the fresh Commish take a fresh look at this situation?

Heck yes... I want Andy Reid to be going to HS games to scout.

That would be funny... It would make scouting dept's work harder.

But it is broke. They have shown time and again that college atheletes get a free ride just to play in college. Witnesses have come forward that have admitted to buying homes, cars, and other things for the players once they are in, just because they are hopefuls of going into the nfl. They pay people to do their homework, and help them out when they are in a jam (dui) :)

Obviously this isn't ALL college football and basketball players, because a lot of them are really educated and don't take the shortcuts. But it happens, I think more then anyone is really aware of.

    Example:
When I was in high school, Marcus Camby (I know this is a basketball player!) got busted for attempted rape. He threw a female through a wall. Somehow, the whole thing was diffused before it hit the larger papers or ESPN. Probably because someone paid someone to stop the press if you know what I am saying.

Your idea is a good one. However, I don't think anything will change until the people behind the scenes are stopped, such as: the players friends, family, and even acquaintances that support this type of behavior
