The 49ers lost a heartbreaker to the Vikings, 27-24, in a game that Brett Favre drove Minnesota down the field and threw a game-winning touchdown pass to Greg Lewis with 2 seconds left.

The 49ers, for whatever reason, were reluctant to ask Hill to do too much late in Sunday's game against the Vikings. It looked as if he won the game with a 5-for-5 performance with 89 yards passing on the go-ahead drive. But, then, they took the ball out of his hands on the final two drives.

Do you want to know why the 49ers lost today to the Vikings? They were abysmal on third downs. (And, yes, Brett Favre's game-winning TD fling came on a third down.)

The San Francisco 49ers had the opportunity to start the season 3-0, but due to two costly lessons, they left Minnesota with a loss and a 2-1 record.
You could make the argument for a third lesson as well, but for now let's leave it at two.

Yes I said it. This year's 49ers squad looks very reminiscent of the 2000 Super-Bowl Champion Ravens.
But let me say this I am not making a prediction here. I am not predicting the 49ers to go 12-4 or win the Super Bowl. All I'm doing is comparing two teams who seem to have a lot of parallels.
Both teams boast dominate defenses and snore-fest offenses that heavily rely...
