On Marion Barber's 1-yard run, umpire Bill Schuster got rolled up by KC outside linebacker Tamba Hali. He's on the ground now with 5:56 to play in the opening quarter but it was a pretty hard hit to his right knee that might have been flagged for the Tom Brady rule had Schuster been a quarterback. He just walked off the field and will be examined by the Chiefs medical personnel. Field judge Jim Howey has moved to the Umpire's spot.

Negative plays and penalties

KC coach Todd Haley pinpointed a lot of his offense's woes on penalties, sacks and minus-yardage runs. Well, the Cowboys' first drive had everything but the sack. At the Kansas City 47, Marion Barber was stopped for a 4-yard loss. Then Andre Gurode was penalized for an ineligible man downfield penalty on a screen throw to Marion Barber that the Chiefs read well. Calling...

Week 5 Keys to Victory

This a must win game. You can try to justify that a loss doesn't end the season, and maybe it doesn't. But it will prove that the 2009 Dallas Cowboys just aren't good enough to compete with the best teams in the league. The Cowboys need to win and win big. Injuries are going to play a role in the game since the Cowboys are probably down at least two starters. Injuries...

What does Laurence Maroney think when he see his ex-running buddy, Marion Barber, thrive? … and links!

In college, it was both of them. You couldn’t see Laurence Maroney without seeing Marion Barber when you watched a University of Minnesota game. A few years ago, Maroney rushed for 3,933 yards with 32 TDs in his collegiate career, while Barber racked up 3,276 yards with 35 TDs. (That’s them right.) They were college football’s [...]

Chauncey Washington, part 2?

Last Saturday the Cowboys called Chauncey Washington up from the practice squad to play agianst Denver and they could do the same thing this week. With Felix Jones missing his second straight game with a knee injury and Marion Barber not yet 100 percent with a quadriceps injury, the Cowboys need some running back protection as well as special teams' help. Washington had one...

First-quarter stats

The Cowboys out-gained Kanas City, 98 yards to 7, in the first quarter. But that didn't matter. The Cowboys missed a field goal in their only scoring chance. Kansas City just made a 47-yard field goal to take a 3-0 lead with 14:13 left in the second quarter. Scoring drive: Four plays, minus-5 yards. Nice. RB Marion Barber had five carries for 12 yards in the first quarter....

flippin' out in kansas city

Cowboys tailback Marion Barber flips over Kansas City cornerback Brandon Flowers for a short gain during the third period of the Cowboys' overtime victory Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Barber rushed for 53 yards on 15 carries.

Tell us your final score ... who wins?

What will be the final score of the game today? The Cowboys (2-2) are coming off of a disappointing loss last week at Denver. They'll be without starters WR Roy Williams and S Gerald Sensabaugh and backup RB Felix Jones. RB Marion Barber will start, but who knows if his quad tightens up again. QB Tony Romo doesn't have a touchdown pass in his last two games, but he'll...

Cowboys 13, Chiefs 13

KANSAS CITY - The Cowboys continue to struggle in the red zone. Nick Folk kicked a 28-yard field goal to forge a 13-13 tie with 11:10 left, but the drive should have produced a touchdown. After a 17-yard run by Marion Barber gave Dallas first-and-goal from the 9, Flozell Adams (surprise, surprise) got flagged for a false start. On third down, Tony Romo threw high in the end zone...

Tashard Choice comes up big

Tashard Choice got his money's worth again, making a big impact with lmited playing time. He got only two carries in the first half. But in the second half, with Marion Barber wearing down (due to quad injury?), Choice gained 83 yards on six carries. His most important was a 24-yarder to start the Cowboys' final drive. He ran for five yards on the next play and then gained...

Garrett made the right Choice in second half

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jason Garrett didn't have any glaring play-call goofs like he did in last week's 17-10 loss to Denver, but that doesn't mean he had a perfect day at Arrowhead Stadium. The Cowboys offensive coordinator stuck way too long with Marion Barber, who was ineffective, gaining 53 yards on 15 carries for a middling 3.5 average. At halftime, Barber had 31 yards...

This is just a mess

Maybe it's the noon start. Maybe the Cowboys just aren't that good. I'd love to hear what Jerry Jones is saying right now. This is just embarrassing, isn't it? An illegal formation penalty on Miles Austin after an 11-yard run by Marion Barber. A false start by Flozell Adams. A poorly executed screen that forces Tony Romo to throw the ball into the ground. A missed...

Official leaves game for few plays

How the Chiefs and Cowboys scored

•KEY PLAYS: The Cowboys moved past midfield on their first possession, but Ron Edwards pushed them back when he tackled Marion Barber in the backfield and Dallas eventually punted. … The Chiefs ran a flea-flicker on their second play. Matt Cassel’s pass for Mark Bradley was incomplete, but the Cowboys were penalized for holding. That was the only first down the...
