Inside the Bills:
At Super Bowl XLVI a Bills PR veteran will be working his 25th big game.
Bills VP of Communications Scott Berchtold is working his 25th Super Bowl and 5th in his current capacity of overseeing the Public Relations efforts on behalf of the league at the media center. As PR Coordinator there are just over 100 staff and volunteers who assist during the week of game and game day in areas such as: staffing press conferences, media day, quote teams for both team’s media availabities, radio row, day pass and media credentialing, distribution of quotes and press releases.
Earlier today (game day) Berchtold led the 8AM staff meeting to go over final assignments before heading to Lucas Oil Stadium shortly after. Berchtold and the 100 member staff will work well into Monday morning.
For Bills media relations staffer Dom Rinelli it is the fifth time he’s worked a Super Bowl alongside Berchtold.

The Buffalo Bills got off to a fast start in 2011, posting a 5-2 record in the first part of the season based in part by the play of Ryan Fitzpatrick. By the time Week Seven and the Buffalo Bills’ bye week rolled around, the club offered QB Ryan Fitzpatrick a new contract, keeping him off the 2012 free agency roster. At the time, it appeared to be a wise move after...
There are times when you had to wonder if the Buffalo Bills were ever going to be on the right track again, but, for at least the first half of the year, that seemed to be the case. Granted, the illusion broke down by mid-season as injuries and youthful mistakes returned the Bills to their losing ways, but there seemed to finally be hope... not a lot, but a glimmer, a spark. Buffalo...
---Bills wide receiver David Nelson finally confirms what has long been rumored: Quarterback Ryan Fizpatrick cracked a few ribs during the Washington Redskins game and played through the injury for the remainder of the season.
Buffalo Bills senior vice president of communications Scott Berchtold is working at his 25th Super Bowl today at Lucas Oil Stadium. Bertchtold has worked in the NFL for 27 years and just completed his 23rd year with the Bills. He has held a vice president title since 1999. A dozen or so NFL PR directors work the Super Bowl each year, aided by a big contingent of assistants. For the...
INDIANAPOLIS -- I caught up with Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick by phone this morning and Fitz seemed a bit dismayed to know David Nelson had spilled the beans about him playing with cracked ribs this season.
"My only reaction would be, I don't really want to comment at all," Fitzpatrick said from his home in Arizona. "I don't think injuries had...
Bills receiver David Nelson, who said Friday that Fitzpatrick was dealing with a serious injury for the majority of the season.
There were a lot of theories as to what exactly was the reason for the slip in Ryan Fitzpatrick’s play for the Bills last season. It began in the second half of the season after their shutout win over Washington in Week 8. WR David Nelson provided a previously unknown reason why Fitz battled accuracy issues in the second half of the season, which were a contributing factor to a...
Recently one of my friends asked me my thoughts on the Buffalo Bills going back to playing a 4-3 defense rather than the 3-4 system they had implemented. For the football lingo impaired, a 4-3 means there are four linemen and three linebackers, as opposed to the 3-4 which has three linemen and four linebackers. Anyway, back to the question, I told him I thought the Bills should...
Knowing football players can be tough to recognize with all the time they spend in helmets, it might not be a big deal, but Bills safety Da’Norris Searcy has changed his look (haircut).
Searcy chopped off all of his dreadlocks that he had during the 2011 season. Here’s his twitter avatar as proof.
One note, the last Bills players to completely shed their dreadlocks was...
INDIANAPOLIS – So close, yet so far for Buffalo Bills great Andre Reed.
The Bills’ all-time best receiver advanced to the final 10 in the voting for the Pro Football Hall of Fame for a third year in a row. But when the voting to reduce the field went down to the final five, Reed was eliminated.
Reed was among 15 modern-era finalists for a sixth straight year. The modern-era...
Johnson made his second straight trip to the Super Bowl for the fun. He hopes to be playing in one, eventually.
Buffalo Bills free agent receiver STEVIE JOHNSON is all about handlin’ business and havin’ fun. So naturally, SJ13 would be in Indianapolis this week for all the Super Bowl XLVI festivities. The “Why So Serious” wideout sat down with Fox Sports to talk free agency...
Bills DL Marcell Dareus thinks that Tom Brady is able to successfully lobby officials for flags during games. The Dolphins want Sun Life Stadium to feel more like the Orange Bowl. The Patriots focused on trying to replicate the speed of the Giants pass rush during practice. Former Jets RB Curtis Martin hopes to go…
