Wes Welker always goes and works out with Tom Brady in sunny California, it’s how the two developed such a great chemistry.
Now, Aaron Hernandez is heading out west and that spells trouble Welker’s contract situation. Hernandez is widely viewed as Welker's replacement in the slot, and working extensively with Brady on those option routes that require the quarterback and receiver to see the same thing.
NFL.com's Dan Hanzus reported Tuesday that Hernandez has rented a place in Manhattan Beach near Brady to get some work done.
The Patriots will have a new look next year, as Hernandez will probably take the slot position, while the Patriots will try to add another outside the hash marks receiver to bookend Brandon Lloyd.
This however looks like a move in preparation of the departure of Welker than casual off-season work, more like Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniels saying, ‘get up to speed, this is what it’s going to be.’
