We give a big helmet knock to the Minnesota Vikings Adrian Peterson for responding to a Twitter campaign that requested him to call a big fan of his who is currently battling cancer. Blake Cognata, a 17-year-old, was diagnosed with a Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. It has led to him having to quit playing lacrosse and football for his high school team. Blake has been in the hospital in recent days, because the pain has become so great. His friends began a campaign on Twitter with the hash tag #APCallBlake. It only took about 90 minutes from the start of the Tweets until Blake received a call from the NFL’s leading rusher and MVP candidate. “It was on his heart and he just felt he had to do it,” Chris Brown, Peterson’s assistant, said by phone from Texas. “If a conversation can bring a little bit of joy, it’s the least Adrian can do.” The phone call from Peterson was an unexpected yet terrific birthday present. Cognata turns 18 next Monday. He girlfriend, Ellie Heier, and cousin, Ryan Calcagno, both seniors, were in the hospital room and had been tweeting as well. When the cell phone rang, [...]

Football-Carrying Cameraman Channels Inner Adrian Peterson, Runs Over Female TV Reporter (Video)

Lee Valsvik probably didn’t expect to have to make any open field tackles when she arrived on the scene at a local Minnesota restaurant.
