Minnesota Vikings' running back Adrian Peterson will not be announced whether he is playing or not in the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars until 90 minutes before kickoff.  Peterson, as everyone now knows, is recovering from an ACL tear that he suffered last year against the Washington Redskins and has made great strides in his recovery.

All players that are going to be active come game day do not have to be announced until the deadline, which is 90 minutes before kickoff.  According to Leslie Frazier and NFL.com, Peterson is listed as questionable, which by definition means he is a 50/50 shot to play in the game.  While Peterson playing would give the Vikings a greater chance to win against a strong Jags' defense, it might not be worth the risk of re-injuring his knee.

Peterson, however, is not afraid of re-injuring his knee as he wants to play and has pushed the issue.  According to NFL.com and Dave Campbell, Peterson has been pushing to start at the beginning of the season since Spring.  However, as important as Peterson may be to the Vikings' franchise, Frazier has refused to give him early clearance.

However, this could also be a part of some sort of plan that Frazier has been scheming.  Perhaps Frazier wants the Jags to think that Peterson is not playing, therefore, not putting too much emphasis on preparing to Peterson.  Or, he wants them to worry too much about the possibility of Peterson playing that they prepare too much for him, and in effect, not spend enough time preparing for Toby Gerhart, Christian Ponder and the passing game.  All of these are viable options and Frazier is just using them to his advantage.

Frazier is a smart guy and he will become a solid coach, but he was just dealt an awful hand in his first full year as a coach.  Frazier knows what he is doing and will make the right decision come game day.
