It won’t be looked at as one of the higher profile free-agent signings of the offseason, but it is one of the most important. While the New England Patriots made it a goal to add some youth to their roster this offseason, they also understand the importance of having veteran leadership, specifically in their defensive backfield. The latest addition to their team is former Cardinals’ safety Adrian Wilson. Prior to signing with the Pats, Wilson spent his entire 12-year career with the Cardinals. Wilson saw the lowest of the lows in his career in Arizona and was just seconds away from a Super Bowl ring. Wilson was with the Cardinals so long that he remembers when the team still played in the NFC East. He was the defensive leader of the team for years, and while he isn’t going to the in-you-face kinda player that Rodney Harrison once was with the Patriots, his character and consistency in play should help to shore up a susceptible pass defense.
