Losses by the Bengals and Oakland coupled with wins by Tennessee, Denver and the New York Jets mean the AFC playoff race enters the final quarter of the season with five teams holding 7-5 records. While the 35-7 defeat at Pittsburgh stings, the Bengals still remain the No. 6 seed in the conference by virtue of having the best conference record (6-4) of the four non-division leaders. Denver’s 35-32 win at Minnesota moves the Broncos into first place in the AFC West ahead of the Raiders because of a better division record (3-2 for Denver to 2-2 for Oakland). Tennessee is 5-4 in the AFC, while Oakland and the Jets are 5-5 in the conference. When more than three teams are involved in tie-breaker scenarios head-to-head match-ups are only applied if one team has either beaten all of the other teams or has lost to all of the other teams.
