The big talk around the National Football League the past few days has been about the trade agreed to by Kansas City and San Francisco that will send Alex Smith to the Chiefs for a second round draft pick in 2013 and a conditional draft choice in 2014.
At first, the compensation seems a little staggering but in today’s NFL, you need a quarterback to compete and new Chiefs head coach Andy Reid obviously feels Smith was the best quarterback available that could help his team contend for the playoffs in 2013 and beyond.
But you have to ask if Smith really the kind of quarterback worth that compensation? After all, he is a 28-year old quarterback that has a career completion percentage of 59.3 to go along with 81 career touchdown passes and 75 interceptions.
