Maurice Jones-Drew’s long touchdown run again the Indianapolis Colts was a thing of beauty. Coaches constantly preach that if every player does their job, the plays called will work. Well that happened Sunday when the Jacksonville Jaguars’ running back sprung free in the second half.     Jones-Drew didn’t show that extra gear on the run, and he didn’t need to because of superb blocking by several players. See the full play here. Here is a breakdown of the long touchdown run: For starters, the Jaguars were lined up in a power-running formation with two wide receivers and Greg Jones at fullback. Wide receiver Justin Blackmon (wide right) motions in and lines up near the right tackle before the ball is snapped. After the snap, Jones goes right and seals off the defensive end with a hook block and lineman Mike Brewster pulls to the right, gets to the second level and seals off the linebacker. As Jones-Drew squirts through the hole in the line, Blackmon is downfield laying do...

Shorts emerges as late-game playmaker for Jaguars

Cecil Shorts' cell phone is still buzzing. Less than 24 hours after his 80-yard touchdown reception lifted the Jacksonville Jaguars to a 22-17 win at Indianapolis, Shorts is still receiving texts from friends, family members and unknown numbers. Shorts says he has no idea who some of the messages are from, ''but love is love.'' Shorts is the team's biggest...

Three Jaguars recovering from concussions

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars have three players recovering from concussions. Receiver Laurent Robinson, fullback Montell Owens and cornerback Kevin Rutland left Sunday's game at Indianapolis with concussions. Fullback Greg Jones also took a blow to the head, but passed his concussion test and returned to the game. Coach Mike Mularkey says Robinson, Owens...

Jaxson DeVille wins bet; Colts' mascot changes Twitter avi

The Jaguars hate the Colts, and the Colts hate the Jaguars. That's why Jaguars fans are rejoicing as the Colts mascot has been forced to change his Twitter avi after apparently losing a bet to the Jaguars' mascot, Jaxson DeVille. I've always believed that Jaxson DeVille is the greatest mascot in the NFL, and this just furthers that belief. He's fun, hillarious...

5 things to beat the Colts

Irony is part of the NFL. The Jaguars struggled through much of the Jack Del Rio era chasing the Colts. Now that Peyton Manning is gone, the Jaguars have yet to lose to the Colts under Blaine Gabbert. Oh the irony. Here's 5 quick things that the Jaguars can do to keep the streak going. 1) Defense (again)Once again, it's all about the defense. Hopefully they decide to show...

Jaguars get last-minute victory over Colts

INDIANAPOLIS -- Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert had less than a minute and 80 yards to go for the win. He didn't need near that much time. Gabbert hit wide receiver Cecil Shorts III over the middle of the Indianapolis Colts' defense and Shorts took it all the way for a touchdown to give the Jaguars a 22-17 win on Sunday in Lucas Oil Stadium. "We checked...

Fantasy Football Week 3 Preview: Jaguars vs. Colts

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis ColtsJacksonville Jaguars:  Well that didn’t take long.  After Blaine Gabbert looked like a fairly competent QB against the Minnesota Vikings in week 1, he reverted to the putrid play from 2011, throwing for an ugly 53 yards against a stout Texans defense in Week 2.  Against a decent defense, Gabbert will likely have days like he did against...

Jaguars overcome miscues, squeak out victory against Colts

After a day full of dropped passes and mental errors, the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-2) will fly home after letting out a sigh of relieve – having avoided an 0-3 start against the Indianapolis Colts. Despite the victory, the game as a whole had many mistakes and miscues. But it is a learning lesson for a young team nonetheless. Wide receiver Cecil Shorts III and quarterback Blain...

Gabbert starts for Jags; Colts' Freeney inactive

Jacksonville quarterback Blaine Gabbert will start Sunday, while Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney and Jaguars running back Rashad Jennings are both inactive. Freeney (ankle) will be replaced by Jerry Hughes at outside linebacker. Jennings (ankle) had been listed as doubtful. Indy's Seth Olsen will replace the injured Joe Reitz (knee) at left guard. Reitz hasn't played...

Can the Jaguars find a win?

After a brutal stretch of injuries, Blaine Gabbert, Maurice Jones-Drew and the Jacksonville Jaguars are at 0-2 and facing a tough road ahead to recover from. Luckily this week, they get a team in the Indianapolis Colts, that are coming together and trying to gel and learn the right way to do things. The Jaguars are in the same situation. With a second year QB that still struggles...

NFL Week 3 thoughts & recap

What do you want me to write about the Monday Night game? The replacement refs finally cost a team a game. If you want this to end then just stop watching the NFL because if they don’t bring the regular refs back then I don’t know if I can watch this great game until they do.
