Found August 20, 2012 on Awful Announcing:

Today is the first day of school for a lot of children across the United States. And while most of their first day is consumed with meet and greets, it won't be too long until the kids get some free time to color some fantastic pictures for Mom and Dad. Ya know, pictures that look exactly like the one first round Colts draft pick Andrew Luck did that fetched $1500 off an eBay auction over the weekend.

Luck, who earned a degree in architecture design from Stanford, was one of 35 NFL rookies who attended the NFLPA Rookie Premier in which they were handed a 2 1/2-by-3 1/2 piece of cardboard and told to “sketch something.”  Each of the players, who also included Robert Griffin III and Brandon Weedon autographed their picture and each picture was randomly given away at the Panini America’s wrapper-redemption program at the 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention

The item of course made its way to eBay by seller BryceHarper (??--can't be the real MLB player but he does have a stellar feedback rating) where it sold for a ridiculous $1500. And that's almost double what another auction got for a Peyton AND Luck signature on the same card and almost triple what Luck's other items have sold for.  From Panini America:

"Earlier this month, a 2012 Elite Football Passing the Torch card autographed by both Luck and Peyton Manning sold for $830.99. His 2012 Elite Football Hard Hats Autograph changed hands for $548.08; his 2012 Elite Football Turn of the Century Autograph card bearing the sequential number 12/99 — his jersey number — sold for $450; and one of his Prestigious Picks signed prime-piece jersey cards from 2012 Prestige Football sold for $425."

While many of us would balk at a price tag of $1500 for something their kid will come home from school with in a few days, it goes to show you should NEVER throw away your child's drawings because some schmuck will buy it in 20 years if your kid ever turns out to be the first overall pick in the NFL Draft after their HOF QB skips town for another horse-named team.

Somewhere JaMarcus Russell is buying a box of crayons as we speak.

The Good and Bad of Luck's Second Game

Colts Authority's Todd Smith takes a look at Andrew Luck's highs and lows from the second week of the preseason:  GOOD: Luck bounced back after the pick six I've said before the most important skill a quarterback can have is a short memory after a turnover. Luck flaunted that resiliency by immediately leading the Colts on a masterful 80 yard touchdown drive after serving...

A list of possible Andrew Luck related puns for the entire season

Andrew Luck has a name that is also a noun. Worse still, it is a name that is also a noun that people correlate to football and lends itself easily to puns. Easy puns, of course, are the forte of a lazy journalist writing headlines. So here you go, a punny headline for every week of the season. Week 1: With a little Luck… Colts win (Bearly) Week 2: Luck-y late, Colts ride late...

Colts QB Andrew Luck is as advertised

Yes, I realize that Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck has only appeared in two games. Yes, he has only played a few quarters of two preseason game. That being said, Andrew Luck is as advertised and barring a major injury, he is going to be a monster talent in the NFL during his career. In his first career start last week, Luck posted a 142.7 passer rating after tossing two scores...

eBay shopper spends $1,500 on an Andrew Luck drawing

AP According to NFL.com an eBay shopper bought a drawing that Colts rookie quarterback Andrew Luck put together for $1,500. "In May, a collectibles company presented index cards to a group of high-profile NFL rookies and asked them to draw whatever they liked. "It was an exercise straight out of a southern California private school where there are no grades, only...

Luck vs. Griffin III in Preseason... Who Cares?

It isn't every year that quarterbacks go No. 1 and No. 2 in the NFL draft. It is even more rare that they face each other in the first pre-season of their NFL careers. That still doesn't impress me. After all, it is just another pre-season game. For Indianapolis Colts quarterback and No. 1 overall pick Andrew Luck, the comparison to Colts longtime quarterback Peyton Manning...

NFL QB Breakdown- Andrew Luck-Indianapolis Colts

There are a lot of people who are going to disagree with me when they read this next sentence: The Indianapolis Colts will make the playoffs this year. I know what you’re thinking: This guy is insane, there is no way the Colts make the playoffs. Before I really researched it, I thought the same way. Look at Andrew Luck‘s last year at Stanford: ATT      COMP      %   ...

Preseason Week 2: Colts 24 at Steelers 26 Post Game Summary

The Colts traveled to Pittsburgh Sunday night to take on the Steelers in the second preseason game of the year. Before we dissect the performance of Andrew Luck or discuss which players stood out, we need to start with a much more somber topic. Austin Collie left the game in the first quarter due to concussion like symptoms. The head injury came on a hit that should never have happened...

Record number of rookie quarterbacks slated to start Week 1 of season

So far the number is holding at three which would be a record according the Elias Sports Bureau. Since the AFL-NFL merger, no more than two rookie quarterbacks have started Week 1 of the season as their team’s starting quarterback. That looks to change with the Indianapolis Colts’ Andrew Luck, the Washington Redskins’ Robert Griffin III and the Cleveland Browns’ Brandon Weeden...

Looking Down The Depth Chart: LaVon Brazill

I’m next to step up Juan… Andrew Luck already has the look of a veteran and will be a staple in Indianapolis for the next decade or so.  He has already showed poise in his first NFL action and if things go they way I expect, there will be a ton of passing in Indy this season.  Austin Collie suffered what looks to be another in a long line of concussions, which not only threatens...

Wayne revival

Reggie Wayne is coming off of his worst season (75 catches for 960 yards) since the 2003-2004 season, and his average draft position reflects pessimism in his ability to bounce back. But why? He moves from an unsettled QB situation to a potential franchise signal caller in Andrew Luck, making a repeat of his 2012 stat line the worst case scenario. That stat line is is just shy of...
