If there is one thing that Philadelphia Eagles fan despise more than anything on this earth it is the Dallas Cowboys. The star that represents the team on their helmets and is center stage in what is now known as “Jerryland” is just as hated as the team it represents. And if there is one person who Eagles fans have birthed a hatred for in recent times, it’s head coach Andy Reid. From making personal, verbal, attacks on Reid at games saying inexcusable things regarding the death of his son Garrett to holding up signs and even chanting “Fire Andy” in Big Red’s house, it’s more than one human would normally be able to handle. A normal reaction from anyone who has endured this amount of disrespect would be to apply vengeance on those who dished it out. But before I go on with Reid’s possible payback, let me note that the fans growing hatred for Andy Reid is not on a personal level, very few fans known Andy Reid on such a level…if any at all. Rather, this growing hatred stems from a constant and utter failure by the team Eagles fans cheer for every Sunday. After countless trips to the playoffs including four NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl, the Eagles have failed to bring home the hardware to the City of Brotherly Love — and fans have had enough of getting so close but failing so often. If there is one way that Andy Reid could return a certain level of betrayal and disrespect to Philly faithful, it would be to become the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Most believe that if Reid is dismissed from his duties inside the Eagles organization that he would end up coaching the San Diego Chargers. Reid’s name has been mentioned as the Chargers new head coach, should Norv Turner be fired, almost as much as Jon Gruden’s name has been mentioned as the successor to Andy Reid in Philly over recent years. However, Mark Eckel of the Time of Trenton cited what he is calling a “very reliable source” that Big Red might not wind up in San Diego, and that there is a very real possibility that he could be sporting the star of Dallas if Jeffrey Lurie decides to sever ties with him. “I know a lot of people think Andy is going to San Diego next year, and I can see that happening,” the source said. “But I keep hearing Dallas. I think he can end up with the Cowboys. As a matter of fact, I think he will end up with the Cowboys, if Jason is fired.” “I think Andy would be a good fit with the Cowboys,” added Eckel’s source. “I feel he would get along fine with (Cowboys owner) Jerry (Jones). It would be the two of them working together, no middle man to get in the way.” An ultimate act of betrayal to those who have betrayed him countless times over the years. Now, allow me to twist your brain for a second Eagles fans. Lets say Reid does travel to Big D to become the new head coach for the Cowboys. There is a growing sense that QB Tony Romo is on his last leg as the teams’ starting QB. Andy Reid hasn’t deemed Eagles starting QB healthy enough to start due to Vick failing to pass the impact test, part of a series of test mandated by the league for any player who suffers a concusstion. This has forced Vick to ride the bench for a third straight week — and Vick has accused the Eagles of playing politics per ESPN’s Ed Werder on Friday. What if Eagles fans, what if Reid is merely saving Vick from playing behind an awful offensive line, saving him that he can take Vick along with him to Dallas?
