The San Diego Chargers announced that they have agreed to a two-year deal with nose tackle Antonio Garay, via press release.
Garay has been a solid addition to the Chargers since he signed with the team in 2010, after being on the New York Jets’ practice squad. The 6-4, 320-pound nose tackle from Boston College started 28 games for the Chargers, but managed to play in every contest.
Since his arrival, Garay has been the club’s most effective defensive linemen, as he registered 108 tackles, eight sacks, 29 quarterback hits and 19 tackles for losses.
The Cleveland Browns in the 2003 NFL Draft originally selected Garay in the sixth round (195th overall). After two seasons with the Browns, the New Jersey native signed with the Chicago Bears, where he spent two seasons.
