The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner was charged with driving under the influence and also speeding.  This all happened after the Falcons beat the Denver Broncos on Monday night.

Michael Turner was booked at the Gwinnett County Jail in the early morning hours and was released on bond after paying $2,179.  According to the report, Gwinnett police stopped Turner for going 97 mph in a 65 mph zone.  He was driving his Audi R8, which is a vehicle that can definitely push some major power.  The police officer then smelled alcohol on the running back and conducted proper DUI protocol.

The Atlanta Falcons released a statement and said,

We are aware of the situation involving Michael and are in the process of gathering mroe information.  Because this is now a legal matter, the club will have no further comment at this time.

Sometimes these athletes get a little too happy after a win and take one alcoholic beverage too many.
