Lions defensive end Cliff Avril has yet to sign his one-year franchise offer and isn't in any rush to get to training camp. Avril must play the 2012 season for a guaranteed $10.6 million, the league-calculated total which represents the average of the top 10 salaries at the position. Avril said Monday, when the league's deadline to sign a long-term extension and shed the franchise designation, that he'd be probably wouldn't make it to training camp July 26 when the Lions are scheduled to report. "I wanted to get something done," Avril told the Detroit Free Press. "I want to be with the Lions. I want to be in Detroit. But we'll probably be back at the same situation next year, unfortunately." Avril reportedly declined a three-year, $30 million contract after leading the Lions with 11 sacks last season.
