Torrey Smith (Patrick Smith/Getty Images) It’s no secret that the Baltimore Ravens offense has struggled so far this season. Between injuries, dropped passes, interceptions, poor blocking, and an average of 2.9 yards per carry, the Ravens have a lot to work on on the offense. But among all of the chaos is wide receiver Torrey Smith. Smith has emerged as the Ravens top receiver this season. He is ranked third in the NFL in total yards with 556 yards so far this season. New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham and Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones are the only receivers ranked higher than Smith. But Jones sustained a foot injury and could be out for the season, which will allow for Smith to move up in the rankings. Although Smith has been extraordinary so far this season, he is hungry for more. “It’s alright,” Smith said about his performance last Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. “Nothing special. I can do a lot better.” The only aspect of Smith’s game that has been uncharacteristic is his inability to score touchdowns. He has 27 receptions for 556 yards and is averaging 20.6 yards per reception. But he only has one touchdown this season. Other than not being able to convert his receptions into touchdowns, Smith’s performance this season has been close to flawless. Opposing teams have come to terms with the fact that Smith is the Ravens most reliable receiver and have started to put an extra defender on him, resulting in double coverage. But he has been exceptional on defeating the double coverage. He is quick off of the line of scrimmage and can typically break through the defenders. As long as Smith can remain healthy, the Ravens will will have one less thing to worry about on offense. With the numbers that he has already put up on the season, the wide receiver is on track to put up career high numbers and finish toward the top of the league among receivers.   Related Articles Baltimore Ravens: Terrell Suggs is turning heads Baltimore Ravens acquire left tackle Eugene Monroe Baltimore Ravens: Joe Flacco’s disappointing day
