The Arizona Cardinals began the season a promising 4-0 yet have fallen to 5-10 after losing to the Chicago Bears, 28-13, who snapped their three-game losing streak to improve to 9-6. The Bears keep their postseason pursuit alive thanks to a strong defensive performance complete with two defensive TDs by Charles Tillman and Zack Brown. We already knew the Bears have a strong defense. Jay Cutler's inconsistencies of late attracted much media attention. On the other side, Arizona's QB troubles and lack of a rushing game have seemingly worsened, thus negating any defensive contributions.Chicago can make the postseason as a wildcard if they beat the Lions next week AND have one of the following two occur: Green Bay beating Minnesota OR Seattle losing their final two games. The Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers Sunday night. So, what can we take away from this game?1. Larry Fitzgerald is a classy stud. He's in the prime of his career and should be on a team with a decent QB. But I admire his loyalty. Fitz did reward fantasy owners with 111 yards on eight receptions today, only his second 100-yard game of the year.2. Chicago's defense is impressive but is it enough to get into and win in the postseason? A ten-yard pick-six by Tillman and a one-yard fumble-recovery TD by  Brown equaled the offensive scoring output by Matt Forte and Brandon Marshall. Cutler continued to struggle to find his rhythm, ultimately going 12-of-26 for 146 yards and one TD after starting the game by completing only one of his first 11 passes. Matt Forte left the game with an ankle injury. The Bears need just one more defensive score to match the single-season defensive scoring record held by the 1998 Seattle Seahawks.3. Arizona has a serious QB deficit. But we already knew that. Rookie Ryan Lindley (17-of-30, 141 yards, one INT) was replaced by fourth-year QB Brian Hoyer who was claimed off waivers from the Pittsburgh Steelers on December 10th (11-of-19, 105 yards, one INT). Ken Whisenhut's flakiness is a significant factor contributing to his comfortable position on the hot seat for most of the season. 4. In a similar vein, the Cardinals have NO running game. The combined output by LaRod Stephens-Howling, Curtis "Beanie" Wells, and William Powell was a meager 29 yards with no scores.5. The Chicago front office was smart in reuniting Cutler with Marshall who snagged six passes for 88 yards and a TD and giving him the team's single-season receiving yards record.
