Found November 10, 2012 on State of the Texans:
A big test on the horizon for the Houston Texans in the 7-1 Chicago Bears this Sunday Night at Soldier Field. This is going to be a good measuring stick for the Texans and being on prime time could be another stumbling block they could overcome. Two of the best teams in the NFL, both teams will use this game as stepping stone into the second half of the season, but more importantly for the Texans confidence to compete with any teams in the NFL. If the Texans can pull this game out, it can be another confidence booster to an already confident team. Lets take a look.   Quick Hitters Claire got to work again on our Know Your Opponent spot with Judge Lucas previewing the Chicago Bears game. Charles covered his Texans to watch against the Bears. We did our week nine All-22 Breakdown against the Buffalo Bills. The site did it’s mid season grades on the Texans position groups.   Informative Tweets Shaun Cody & Ben Tate did not practice. With the potential of starting tight end Owen Daniels being a game time decision, Head Coach Gary Kubiak is going to have to make some adjustments on the offensive side of the ball. James Casey will have to do more at the tight end position and backup fullback Tyler Clutts looks like he will get his first real action at fullback this season. Clutts will be returning to face his old team after being traded prior to the season for Sherrick McManis. If Casey and Clutts can take keep the Texans from an offensive drop off there should be no reason not to move the football. Garrett Graham will have to take the pass catching responsibilities and Matt Schaub’s primary target in the middle of the field. 2. If there is anytime that the special teams unit needs to step up it has to be this week against the vaunted Bears unit. With arguably the best returner in NFL history, in Devin Hester, the Bears can block punts, cover kicks and return kicks for big games. The Texans need a big, all around performances from any player who lines up  for the special teams units on Sunday and prove they can be difference makers. Coverage teams are going to be a key for the Texans to hold the field position battle. 3. The Texans need to protect the football and win the turnover battle. The Bears live off of defensive scores, but if the Texans can keep the ball in their possession it will force the Bears’ offense and Jay Cutler to beat the Texans. If anything the Texans want Cutler to try to beat them, and with a questionable offensive line in front of him, the pass rush could be huge in the outcome of the game.     You can follow Patrick on Twitter.  He is the Editor of State of the Texans.

Jay Cutler concussed on vicious hit by Texans LB

The constant rain has turned this Sunday Night Football game between the Houston Texans and Chicago Bears into an utter slop fest.  But even then it’s not without its big plays.Tim Dobbins made a play to get after Jay Cutler and unfortunately for Cutler, despite absorbing a massive hit, it was all for nothing.  Cutler had barely crossed the line of scrimmage, making the pass...

Tillman active for Bears, Daniels out for Texans

CHICAGO (AP) -- Bears star cornerback Charles Tillman is active for Sunday's game against Houston, while Texans tight end Owen Daniels is out because of a back injury. There was some question about Tillman's status after he told a Chicago radio station he might not be available because his wife, Jackie, is due to give birth to a girl -- the couple's fourth child. He...

All-22 Breakdown: Week 9

In this breakdown, we look at Garret Graham’s touchdown catch and the Houston Texans switching it up on third and long. See what you think.     Duane Brown Doing Work 3rd and 10 on the Houston 4 yard line. The Texans usually can count on a screen pass or power play with Wade Smith pulling into the hole. Well, the Texans finally dig into the playbook and switch it up on the...

Jay Cutler is concussed and will miss the second half against the Texans; but the diagnosis comes late

Jay Cutler left the game against Houston at halftime having also been diagnosed with a concussion, but, for me the issue poses a bigger question than whether or not Jason Campbell can do enough to lead the Bears to victory (I'd suggest it just got quite a bit harder for them). The question is why wasn't a concussion test administered on Cutler before he went to the locker...

Cutler, McClellin suffer concussions

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has left Chicago's game against the Houston Texans because of a concussion. A scrambling Cutler took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Tim Dobbins after unleashing a pass on third down at midfield late in the first half Sunday night. There were offsetting penalties on the play. Cutler got called for an illegal forward pass because he was beyond the line...

Houston Texans come on strong in 2nd half to beat Bills 21-9

Coming off their bye week the Houston Texans defeated the Buffalo Bills 21-9 in what was mostly a one sided affair on Sunday October 4th at Reliant Stadium. The Texans moved a record of 7-1 with the win in which all 3 of the Texans big offensive weapons had pretty good games against a lacking defensive attack from the Bills. QB Matt Schaub had another stellar game staying clean most...

Houston DC Wade Phillips says the Texans will double team Chicago wideout Brandon Marshall all game Sunday, meaning the Bears must have an executable Plan B in place.

Tillman expected to play Sunday

Even with his daughter due any day now, Bears cornerback Charles Tillman is expected to play this weekend, meaning Chicago's defense will be at full strength against the Houston Texans.

Zeoli's Bears vs. Texans Game Preview

The Bears cruised into the 2012 season’s halfway point by utterly eviscerating the Tennessee Titans in Nashville, 51-20.  Titans fans came to watch a football game, and were instead treated to ritual sacrifice.  The Bears led 28-2 after their relentless first quarter defensive onslaught, a quarter which saw a blocked punt for a touchdown, a 46 yard pick-six for Brian Urlacher...

Chicago Bears, Not 49ers or Falcons, Are NFC's Best Team

Right now the Chicago Bears are the best team in the NFC. The Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers fans will disagree but right now they are wrong!  Both of those teams have been very impressive in the first half of the season, but they do not have the X-factors that the Bears do.  Not to mention when the Bears and 49ers play a week from this coming Monday the Bears will show...
