A few years ago, the Cowboys had a running back problem. The problem was, they had too many, each with a unique skill set, and never seemed all that certain how to distribute carries between them. These were the bygone days of Smash, Tash’ and Dash, referring to Marion Barber, Tashard Choice and Felix Jones. Now, the team has much the opposite problem. Felix is the only of the three on the roster, and, following Phillip Tanner and DeMarco Murray each going to the injured reserve, the only healthy running back to have recorded a carry for Dallas before. It was this running back shortage that prompted Dallas to call Sammy Morris, an 11-year veteran of the league, who was last seen with the Patriots last year.
