The Cincinnati Bengals have acquired wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher on waivers from the Chicago Bears and placed first-round draft pick Dre Kirkpatrick on injured reserve.
Sanzenbacher was released this week by the Bears and was picked up Tuesday by the Bengals. He played in five games with one catch for 7 yards this season.
Kirkpatrick, the 17th overall selection in the 2012 draft, has been sidelined with a knee injury. He played in five games this season, with two tackles on defense and two on special teams.

Bears need help from Packers to make playoffs
The Chicago Bears might be rooting louder for Green Bay than even the most loyal Packers fans this week.
They need an assist from their biggest rivals.
The Bears (9-6) kept themselves in playoff contention with a 28-13 victory at Arizona on Sunday. Now they must win at Detroit this week, and that's just the start.
Coach Lovie Smith acknowledges it's ''not an ideal...

Final Thoughts: The Bears Got The Job Done, Even Though It Wasn’t Exciting To Watch

The Bears went to Arizona on Sunday and came away with a victory.
It wasn’t the most impressive or most exciting win, but they got the job done and are still right in the playoff...

Bears add veteran safety for depth
With Chris Conte’s hamstring injury Sunday causing depth concerns, the Chicago Bears signed safety Troy Nolan Wednesday to help out on special teams. The 6-2, 200-pound Nolan has appeared in 37 games with seven starts over four seasons with the Houston Texans (2009-12) and Miami Dolphins (2012). After being selected in the seventh round (223rd overall) by the Texans out of [...]
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger?
Challenge….accepted.
Chicago Bears future Hall of Fame Inside Linebacker Brian Urlacher re-iterated something the other day which has piqued my interest for a couple of months now. Half of his sentiment drew staunch criticism from all sources but the other half, at least to some extent, rings true. Last weekend, the previously 7-1 Bears slipped to 8-6, having lost 5 of the last...
Jay Cutler Says RB Matt Forte 'Optimistic He'll Play' For Bears Vs Lions
A strange season for the Chicago Bears comes down to Sunday's must-win tilt against the Detroit Lions.
Matt Forte's status for the game remains a concern for Chicago after the running back aggravated the right ankle injury he's dealt with all season in a Week 16 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Forte was seen lumbering around in a walking boot after the game, but...
Bear Breakdown: Bears Key to Victory is Slowing Down Calvin Johnson
On a Monday night back in October, the Chicago Bears improved their record to 5-1 and somewhat silenced the critics who thought they had not played top-level talent before facing the Detroit Lions.
In that Monday night contest, cornerback Charles Tillman held All-Pro wide receiver Calvin Johnson to just three catches for 34 yards. The following week, Johnson was again shut down by...
The Unthinkable Becomes A Reality: Bears Need Packers To WIn
If you're a Bears' fan, take a look outside and you might see the devil in a Bubble coat with a skull cap on shaking in the snow. Coming into Sunday, the Chicago Bears needed to win out the season just to have a chance to get in the playoffs. They accomplished the first part by dominating the Arizona Cardinals, 28-13. They had a few scenarios that could help them get into...
Bears 28, Cardinals 13
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Chicago Bears knew the score well before they took the field Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. If they lost at University of Phoenix Stadium, they'd get knocked out of the playoff race. If they won, they'd still be alive with a chance to snag an NFC wild-card berth. The Bears, who lost five of their previous six games, breathed a sigh of relief...
