The Bengals will rely on newly-signed Josh Brown for kicking duties this Sunday. With reports surfacing this week that placekicker Mike “Don’t call me Ted” Nugent tweaked a calf muscle in practice this week, the Bengals reacted quickly with the signing of former Ram and Seahawk Josh Brown.  According to the reports, including from one today from the mothership, the Bengals looked at Brown, former Raven and Redskin choke artist Billy Cundiff, and former Bengal choke artist Neil Rackers. Brown has an 80.9% conversion rate on 272 field goals, including 7 game-winners. Per Marvin Lewis, Nugent’s injury isn’t a season-ender, and he’s considered day-to-day.  However, he will miss Sunday’s contest at home against Dallas, and could also miss the following Thursday Night tilt in Philly against the Eagles.  Hobson’s report indicates he should be back in time for the big game in Pittsburgh in week 16. To make room for Brown, the Bengals released Center Jeff Faine.  Faine, who was seen as a Godsend when Center Kyle Cook went down with an ankle, lost his starting job to undrafted rookie Trevor Robinson a few weeks ago.  Robinson has helped solidy the offensive line play, and has gelled with young guards Kevin Zeitler and Clint Boling.  With Cook back at practice and ready to be activated, Faine’s fate was sealed. The Bengals will still have to make another roster move though if they want him active this Sunday.  I’d anticipate the odd man out being either Boom Herron, who was just called up from the practice squad, or TE Richard Quinn, who hasn’t been active since joining the team.
