Here are some notes from Geoff Hobson’s recent article published on Bengals.com Andre Smith Hobson writes that Andre Smith will most likely wait until OT Jake Long signs with either the Rams or the Dolphins before figuring out where he’ll be playing next season. Interestingly enough, offensive tackles Long, Smith and Sebastian Vollmer are all represented by the same agency, which means that the recent lack of interest in Smith and Vollmer could be part of their gameplan instead of a poor market. Previous reports indicated that the Bengals would like to re-sign Smith, so things could pick up shortly after Long makes his decision. We have Smith listed as the No. 4 best available player in our recently updated Top 50 Free Agents list. Adam Jones According to Hobson, “indications are that [the Bengals] are closing in on” a deal with free agent CB Adam Jones. Cincinnati has said that re-signing their free agents is their top priority this offseason and Jones has actually been a great add...

Bengas give Maualuga new contract

The Bengals have signed middle linebacker Rey Maualuga to a new contract, another move to keep the league's sixth-ranked defense virtually intact. Maualuga was a second-round pick from Southern California in 2009. He has had some rough times during his transition to starter, with coach Marvin Lewis challenging Maualuga and quarterback Andy Dalton to become more vocal leaders...

Cincinnati Bengals: Five Free Agents They Still Need to Re-Sign

The Cincinnati Bengals have secured their special teams unit. They have kept the defensive line solid. Most players on this back-to-back playoff team were not free agents, anyway, so the Bengals are looking good as the off season progresses. With the Pittsburgh Steelers faltering last season as they were finally overcome by age, and, seemingly in the process of rebuilding, they...

A Failure To Communicate

Frustration with the lack of activity from the Bengals is reaching a level I haven’t seen since Mike Brown’s press conference following the 2010 season announcing Marvin Lewis’ new contract. Fans see the mountain of cash that the Bengals are sitting on (the tallest in the league) then look at the short list of transactions made by the team while other teams make move after...

Marvin Lewis: Randy Moss did nothing for the 49ers last season

The Cincinnati Bengals are not interested in signing any veteran free agent wide receivers. On Sunday, Paul Daugherty of the Cincinnati Enquirer urged the team to stop sitting on its hands and be more active in free agency. In particular, he said the Bengals need to bring in a veteran receiver presence rather than stick with Mohamed Sanu as the team’s No. 2 receiver behind AJ...

Marvin Lewis Says Randy Moss Did Nothing for 49ers, Doesn’t Want Old Guys on Bengals

Marvin Lewis was a little feisty in these comments, when asked by reporters, why the Bengals aren’t making a bigger splash in Free Agency. “Mo Sanu [is] way ahead of where one certain receiver [Johnson] was in his second year playing in the National Football League. I’ll go on record saying that,” Lewis told Joe Reedy of the Enquirer. “That’s the uneducated putting dumb...

Larson, Buescher spark new interest

On Saturday, it was clear that there's a new Kyle on the block. Yes, Kyle Busch continued his winning ways at Bristol Motor Speedway while extending his record for most career victories in the Nationwide Series to 53. But in the closing laps of the 300-circuit bout, it was Kyle Larson not only nipping at Busch's bumper but actually muscling alongside to contend at the finish...

Bengals Rumors: Ryan Fitzpatrick meets Marvin Lewis

Ryan Fitzpatrick got cut from Buffalo Bills, but he is in need of a landing spot to re-build his career.  One place could be the team he left to join the Bills in 2009 - the Cincinnati Bengals own website reports that Fitzpatrick met up with head coach Marvin Lewis at the NFL Annual meeting in Phoenix, Arizona. Fitzpatrick is one of the few top quarterbacks available on the free...
