Bengals select 'massive' playmaker in latest mock draft

NFL Network analyst Peter Schrager released his first mock draft with just nine days until night one and he has the Bengals landing maybe the biggest playmaker QB Joe Burrow has ever played with.

With pick No. 28 in the 2023 NFL Draft, Schrager has Cincinnati selecting TE Darnell Washington. The Georgia product stands at a massive 6-foot-7, 270 pounds.

"His height and weight don't do justice to just how massive he is. If your offense wants an offensive tackle who can also run routes and make guys miss after the catch, Washington is your man," Pro Football Focus writes.

Some may think it is a little bit of a reach by the Bengals as the 21-year-old ranks as PFF's No. 68 overall prospect and fifth-best tight end on its big board. But with two tight ends going before Washington in this mock draft, Schrager believes there could be a surprising run on the position in round one.

Washington is an intriguing prospect. He totaled 45 catches for 774 yards and three touchdowns from 2020-22, which may be less than some might expect, but he certainly has a high ceiling.

Cincinnati added TE Irv Smith Jr. in free agency, but on a one-year deal, it seems to be a prove-it year for him. Maybe we'll see some more two tight end sets by the Bengals, making their offense even more unpredictable with all its weapons in 2023.
