Found November 15, 2013 on Buffalo Wins:
He’s back, but his return didn’t exactly go as planned. On a cold and windy day, Manuel threw 39 passes. 34 of them were ten or fewer yards. 24 were thrown short of the first down marker. The offense as a whole was inept at best, gaining just 157 yards in the first three quarters. But there’s hope! Manuel has just six professional games under his belt and still could develop into the savior of the franchise. Through six games, Andy Dalton is the most similar rookie to EJ Manuel in terms of passing statistics. But the inclusion of the running aspect of Manuel’s game makes him most like Russell Wilson, David Carr, and Andrew Luck. The Carr similarity is a bit concerning, but the other three players have all taken their teams to the playoffs. Russell Wilson continues to hang around in this study. His similarity to Manuel through six games, thanks to their similarity in the rushing game, is currently 96.2%. With an even number of rush attempts apiece, Manuel has been more effe...

Buffalo Bills: 2013 Week 11 NFL Power Rankings (#18)

Last week: 17 (-1) Record: 3-7 The Bills have 6 games remaining and will probably be favored in 5 of them, including 3 at home, where they have been very good, beating Carolina and Baltimore and almost beating Kansas City, New England, and Cincinnati. EJ Manuel struggled in his first game back, but he’ll get healthy and he won’t have to deal with rookie destroyer Dick LeBeau...

Steve Johnson ruled out for Bills (Week 11 NFL Injury Report)

Steve Johnson – Out: Stevie joins Robert Woods on the sidelines and makes things even more difficult for a Buffalo team that’s struggled to put up significant points all year. Expect the speedy Marquise Goodwin and T.J. Graham to get more action this week in his stead.   Calvin Johnson – Probable: Megatron’s availability was never really in question, despite being gifted...

Doug Marrone 'doesn’t feel good' about WR Steve Johnson's chance to play Sunday against the Jets

According to Mike Rodak of ESPN, Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson did not practice Thursday and coach Doug Marrone isn't seeing the glass as half full. Johnson hasn't been ruled out due to a groin injury, but Marrone said he 'he doesn't feel good' about Johnson's chances on playing Sunday against the Jets.

Week 11 Fantasy Football Weekend Injury Report: CJ Spiller

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller is expected to play this week against the New York Jets, but exactly how much remains to be seen. Spiller did not receive many touches last week, despite practicing all week and not being listed on the team’s injury report. There is speculation (not sure how much truth there is to it) that with all the injury woes at WR for the Bills (Steve Johnson has...

Geno Smith struggles on the road, I like Buffalo to win

At home Geno Smith has a record of 4-1, but on the road Smith has a mark of 1-3. What’s strange is his completion percentage on the road (62.2%) is seven percent higher than at home (54.9%). His touchdowns to interceptions are also quite comparable with a 4 TD, 6 INT tally at home compared […]

Bills avoid blackout thanks to owner

For the second time in two months, Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson Jr. is buying the remaining tickets to a home game to avoid a local television blackout. Bills President and CEO Russ Brandon announced Friday that Wilson has guaranteed a sellout of this Sunday's game against the New York Jets at Ralph Wilson Stadium. The NFL on Thursday granted the Bills a one-day extension...

Bills' Johnson out with groin injury

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the New York Jets because of a groin injury. That means the Bills will play without their top two receivers against the Jets. Rookie Robert Woods (ankle) was ruled out this week by coach Doug Marrone. The injuries are the latest blow to an already struggling passing attack. The Bills were...

EJ Manuel Shines vs. Jets

Even without Stevie Johnson and Robert Woods, Bills rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel was able to have his best game of the season Sunday against the Jets.Fantasy Spin:Manuel aired the ball out to receivers Marquise Goodwin and T.J. Graham, hitting both players for touchdowns of 30-plus yards. He finished with 20 completions on 28 attempts, 245 yards and two scores. This puts Manuel...

Week 11 picks: Jets at Bills

Publisher Nick St. Denis and senior contributor Sean Donovan pick the divisional bout between the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills.Nick's take:The Jets sacked Bills quarterback E.J. Manuel eight times when the teams met earlier this year, and their defensive rush hasn't slowed down much since. To make matters worse, Manuel will be without his top two wideouts and will rely...

NFL Week 11 Predictions (Continued)

Jets vs. Bills: E.J. Manuel performed very badly against the Steelers, last Sunday. When compared to the Steelers, the Jets pose a much better defense. Manuel is in for another ugly performance. Prediction – Jets 17-6 Ravens vs. Bears: The Ravens’ offense is lackluster this season, especially their rushing offense. Although, the Bears are missing Jay Cutler and Charles Tillman...

The Football Version of Moneyball?

There are a lot of media members and Bills fans that have praised the Buffalo Bills hiring of Western New York native and former University at Rochester and MIT graduate Michael Lyons as the Director of Analytics for the team. They have razzed it as a sign that the Bills are becoming a progressive organization that recognizes the importance of the almighty number and could be the...

Fernando Velasco Overmatched By Bills Interior Against The Pass

By Matthew Marczi The Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line, banged up as it is, had a tough time dealing with the stout front seven of the Buffalo Bills, particularly the front line that includes Kyle Williams and Marcell Dareus. Center Fernando Velasco probably got the worst of it, often being asked to take on Dareus, who got the better of him—and others—on numerous occasions...
