The hiring of Monte Kiffin as the new defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys is actually a big change for the Dallas Cowboys. Since the Bill Parcells era of the Cowboys. The Dallas Cowboys have been a 3-4 defense style team for an entire decade. Why, because Jerry Jones seemed to covet the 3-4 defense as the defense for a dominant team. However with the failures of the 3-4 on various teams including the Cowboys, has led Jones to make a big change, with large ramifications. That change is to turn the Cowboys defense into a Tampa 2 scheme. The first difference in the defense is a change from the 3-4 to the 4-3, but the Tampa 2 defense is more complex than that.… Read more

  • Big changes, how exciting!

That’s Jerry's way to throwing his fans a bone. Its just like re branding an old product and calling it”new and improved” The “new” Tampa 2 has been around for at least 15 years. Jerry’s got “new “ wrinkles as old as the Tampa 2. The NFL offensives has deciphered the Tampa 2 by now.
As for Garrett not calling plays, how will Bill Callahan be any better? Does anyone remember watching the Raiders being destroyed in the Super Bowl with Callahan calling plays. He was so successful calling plays that the ended up coaching at Nebraska.

Whats not''new and improved” will be Hillbilly Joe Bob, Jerry Jones making all football decisions. That’s the big advantage for all of teams on the schedule. Leave it to Hillbilly Joe Bob, Jerry to make the same stupid decisions he's made for the past 15 years. I see a “new and improved” 8-8 season in the future.
  • Jerry likes the Cover 2 defense because thats what he has seen for years, cover 2 guys and leave the rest uncovered! At least the idiot is calling a duck "a duck" !
  • gallic is 100% right. nothing will change until jerry crawls back under that rock in arkansas.
  • It's truly sad that a once great franchise has been reduced to this. Once again Jerry is groping for anything that he can sell to the Cowboy sheep as big changes! It is just more garbage he can shovel to sell tickets and tee shirts. What a circus! Get ready for 5 more years of mediocrity.
  • jerry jones need to start where the problem is ........JASON GARRERT ......He is not a coach and really was never a good player ...So why have him in dallas at all ...We have to put up with Jerry because he is the owner ...SO SAD .....
  • WRONG, rayemorton! Jerry Jones needs to look in the mirror and fix that problem first. Until he hires a professional Football General Manager to make the Football decisions Dallas is going to continue to spiral downward. If you always do what you always did you will get what you always got! Jerry Joes would not make a wart on a good GM's backside!
  • Until the lemmings ( cowboys season Ticket Holders) quit showing up for Games at Jerry's sarcophagus, I figure three games, the first three next season. Then and only then will there be a change that means something at Jerryworld. Revolving door coaching staffs, Jocks and socks GM who cannot and has not had a TEAM since Jimmy Left. As long as you keep showing up 8 and 8 is your destiny.
  • The 3-4 defence should have never been installed. Jimmy Johnson Troy,Emmit and Mike played on the team with a kick ass Killer 4-3 that was created by non other than Tom The Man Landry.Forget the Tampa 2 it is Dallas defence of old,not a creation of Tampa Bay which is Dallas's Nickle package, used by Dallas on obvious long pass plays, also called the prevent Denfence.A cowboy oringinal, not started in Tampa but Dallas. Jones has been everyone scapegoat. How silly can one be when he added 3 rings to the Cowboys record.Jimmy is the reason Jerry is the Boss. The credit falls on him just like the blame fall on him. If you know football like you think you do you would admit that the 3-4 has seen its days. The 4-3 is Landry's legacy to the game .It is a QB stopper.Whereas the 3-4 is a run stopper. This is the Era of the Pass made easier by all of the rule changes for the QB and On the defence Backs.Dallas will stop the pass as I stated before Offence win games Defence win Championships..Get Ready league The Dooms Day 2 defence is at the door,And they (We) gonna kick the door down ...
  • That is the traditional name of Landry' defence(Flex),back in the day. Thanks for refreshing my memory.Nevertheless the 4-3 is back and it will change the game for the Bradys and such. The Steel Curtain, The Purple People Eaters THE Dooms Day Defence ,The prevent and Nickle DEFENCE ARE ALL NICK NAMES OR AKAs,but then again I guess you know that right?
  • I don't remember Parcell winning a super bowl at
dallas. I haven't lost any money betting on the Cowboys, that would be my fault if I did.
I give the owner and investor the permit to run his business. Do you want to take his money and pay for your healthcare or to pay all the salaries that Jones pays.
I guess what I am saying is,"Don't tell me how to run my business unless you have an investment in it other than betting or buying a ticket which is both your decissions and the only ones you get.
  • Here's a change. Move the Plowboys to L.A. Then, Dallas can get a new team with new ownership and coaching and players and attitude and what a breath of fresh air it would be! This circus disaster would be GONE!
