Remember when Kordell Stewart was known as “Slash?” The Buffalo Bills have signed wide receiver/kick returner Brad Smith to a four year, $15 million deal and are planning to utilize him in a hybrid specialist role that will involve him as a quarterback in the Bills version of the wildcat.

“I see him being used in a similar role as I used Kordell Stewart in Pittsburgh,” said coach Chan Gailey. “He can play some receiver and quarterback. He gives you a lot of versatility. He can play special teams, cover kicks and return kicks.”

Smith isn’t going to put up consistent production, but he’ll score some exciting roles. Expect fun when Smith hits the field in 2011.
