Found August 08, 2013 on Football Nation:
1. Indy's Offense There are a lot of changes on the offensive side of the ball for Indianapolis. With Bruce Arians' departure, Indy hired former Standford OC Pep Hamilton. Hamilton coached both QB Andrew Luck and TE Colby Fleener at Standford. Expect Hamilton to design plays for Fleener and fellow TE Dwayne Allen frequently.2. E.J. Manuel Kevin Kolb may not even play in this game, so look for rookie QB E.J. Manuel to play most of the game. This will be Manuel's first taste of an NFL game and I expect Doug Marrone to leave him in for a large portion of it. This is another chance for Manuel to take the lead in the QB competition. Doug Marrone has already said that he is "very, very impressed" with Manuel's play in training camp, while Kolb has struggled and found himself injured.3. Buffalo's DefenseIt will be interesting to see what type of defense Buffalo plays. The secondary is going to very questionable with the absence of Pro Bowler Jairius Byrd. Mari...

Bruce Arians: Patrick Peterson "could be one of the top five receivers in the league"

We knew that Patrick Peterson was being used in offensive sets because HC Bruce Arians liked his athletic ability but Arians took a step further, telling Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic via LarryBrownSports.com “I had hopes that he could be something special in a package a week, but after you see the athlete he is, it’s like the guy could be one of the top five receivers...

Positives outweigh negatives in Cardinals' win

Bruce Arians was asked this week what he wanted most out of Fridays preseason opener in Green Bay. The short answer was "win." We all know how meaningless preseason games are when evaluating the potential of a team. We all know that players who impress in these exhibition affairs may vanish to the depths of the depth chart or waiver wire when the regular seasons begins...

Bills expect Kevin Kolb back Friday

The Buffalo Bills have been without quarterback Kevin Kolb since he suffered a freak knee injury this weekend slipping on a rubber mat while walking from one practice field to another. There was initially concern regarding the severity of the injury, but it appears Kolb will be back with the Bills sooner than later. In fact, head coach Doug Marrone told reporters -- including Chris...

Bruce Arians: Patrick Peterson Could Be A Top Five WR

The Arizona Cardinals are trying to create a winning program, and sometimes you have to think outside the box to accomplish such a feat. The Cardinals looking to add some explosiveness to their offense, have tried stud cornerback Patrick Peterson out on offense, and the results have been staggering. The Arizona Republic is reporting that Peterson is seeing regular reps on offense...

Kevin Kolb Returns To Practice Friday

Bruce Arians: Patrick Peterson could be a top-five receiver in the NFL

The Arizona Cardinals have been giving cornerback Patrick Peterson several reps at wide receiver during practice this offseason. Either head coach Bruce Arians is planning to use the former fifth overall pick on both sides of the ball, or he’s wasting everyone’s time. Based on what he says, it sounds like the former is true. [...]

Starting ahead of Andre Roberts, Michael Floyd will soar as a Cardinal in Bruce Arians’ offense

Impressing throughout training camp, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floyd has supplanted Andre Roberts as a starter on the team’s initial depth chart. Destined to be frequently targeted in 2013, the 23-year-old Floyd should flourish in Bruce Arians’ vertical passing offense. Taken out of Notre Dame 13th overall in 2012, the former Irishman caught 45 balls for 562 yards...

What to watch for in Cards' preseason opener

GLENDALE, Ariz. Its hard to generate much emotion over a preseason game, but there will be some motivating factors for the Cardinals when they open the preseason at Lambeau Field in Green Bay on Friday. Its been a long, long time since we left the field in San Francisco, said receiver Larry Fitzgerald, whose team completed a 5-11 season with a 27-13 loss to the 49ers on Dec. 30...

The Bills shouldn’t rush the quarterback situation

The Buffalo Bills surprised many when they selected EJ Manuel in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft. And even though there are plenty of people who think Manuel’s high draft status means he should start right away, Mike Mayock feels differently. “I think who the guy is Week 1 is less important than what the big picture is,” says Mayock. “From my perspective, you have a...

Manuel to get first preseason start on Sunday

Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback EJ Manuel will start Sunday's preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts. Bills coach Doug Marrone made the announcement after the team's practice on Friday night. Kevin Kolb, Manuel's competitor for Buffalo's starting quarterback job, will serve as an emergency QB as he makes his way back from a left knee injury. Kolb returned...

Friday NFL Notes

To the delight of fantasy players everywhere, EJ Manuel will open the preseason as the Bills' starting quarterback Sunday night against the Colts. Kevin Kolb dealt with both a death in the family and a knee injury this week, so he will only dress for the game as an emergency third quarterback. We wouldn't bury Kolb quite yet, but this is a nice opportunity for Manuel, and...
