Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Torell Troup has told The Associated Press he will have surgery within the next two weeks to repair a ''minor fracture'' in his spine.
Troup says the recovery will take about three months, and adds the operation will also address a pre-existing back problem that bothered him in training camp.
The Bills placed the second-year player on season-ending injured reserve on Nov. 30. Troup says he attempted to continue playing with the spine injury after he was hurt in Buffalo's preseason finale against Detroit on Sept. 1.
In revealing the nature of the injury for the first time, Troup says he didn't want to leave the team short-handed because of a nagging foot injury that eventually landed starting defensive tackle Kyle Williams on injured reserve.

Today the Buffalo Bills made a significant signing for the teams future. The Bills locked up right tackle Erik Pears for the foreseeable future. Contract terms were not disclosed as the team never lets the numbers out after a signing.

The Bills moved up in position for the NFL Draft from 13th to 11th after last weekend's games. Wins by San Diego (over the Bills) and Seattle (on Monday night) moved those teams behind the Bills in the draft order.
The Bills still could move up if they lose out and finish 5-11.
Indianapolis has a virtual lock on the top spot with an 0-13 record. Minnesota and St. Louis both...
The Buffalo Bills signed right tackle Erik Pears to a contract extension Tuesday, the team announced. Terms of the deal have not yet been released.
Pears, a seven-year NFL veteran, has started all 13 games this season. He's brought stability to a position along the offensive line that has long lacked it. The Bills' line has given up just 17 sacks, fewest in the NFL, and...
Tight end Scott Chandler and rookie cornerback Aaron Williams are inactive for the Buffalo Bills' game against the San Diego Chargers.

NFL Network analyst Charles Davis along with five other analysts revealed his Pro Bowl ballot for this season and he’s got a Bills offensive lineman on it.
Davis voted for Andy Levitre on his Pro Bowl ballot. Having played left tackle and center this season in addition to his natural left guard spot, Levitre has garnered his share of fan votes as well. To vote for your Bills...
For the first time in a few weeks, I was able to sit through the majority of a Bills game. Lucky me, eh? We've reached that unfortunate point of a Bills season when we mostly want the misery to just end. It's happened almost every year for the last 12 seasons. If you're like me, you've become numb to it; I don't even get disappointed anymore. It probably makes...
The Bills looked terrible yesterday in San Diego. Ryan Fitzpatrick flat out stunk yesterday as he completed 13 of 34 passes for 176 yards with 0 TD passes and 2 INTs (one of which was returned 26 yards by safety Steve Gregory for a TD). Tyler Thigpen finished up this game by completing 2 of 3 passes for 19 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 interception. C.J. Spiller led the way...
Ryan Fitzpatrick had his lowest completion percentage of the season on Sunday. He did not sugar coat his performance in the least, but is resolute in his belief that he and the offense will bounce back.
“It was a very poor performance for me,” he said Monday after reviewing game film. ”That was obvious. There was no consistency there in terms of throwing it and getting it...
