---Wide receiver Stevie Johnson (shoulder) and right tackle Erik Pears (groin) returned to practice today after sitting out Wednesday’s session with injuries. Both were limited but coach Chan Gailey said Pears took nearly every rep and while he couldn’t say for certain if Johnson would be available for Sunday’s game in Miami, he felt optimistic because he practiced.   Strong safety George Wilson (neck), wide receiver David Nelson (ankle), defensive end Spencer Johnson (calf) and kicker Rian Lindell (shoulder) all sat out of practice although Gailey said Nelson would have participated had he not been hit with an unspecified illness. Wilson is questionable for Sunday while Gailey hopes Johnson can return to practice on Friday and perhaps play against the Dolphins. Linebacker Chris Kelsay (calf) and left tackle Demetrius Bell (shoulder) were limited.  “Stevie came out and did some things today which was good and that was a positive,’’ Gailey said. “He was limited but he did some th...

Coach Chan Gailey: Third-down struggles have been killing the Bills

It’s hard to believe the Dolphins have been installed as a two-point favorite in Sunday’s game against Buffalo. Could anyone have imagined that as recently as two weeks ago, when the Bills were preparing for a pivotal AFC East showdown against the Jets while the Dolphins headed to Kansas City still seeking their first win [...]

A couple of roles for Moore

Buffalo’s newest DL Kyle Moore is not going to be exclusively a defensive lineman for the Bills. Head coach Chan Gailey when asked if Moore might line up at outside linebacker or even defensive tackle in passing situations said yes to both positions. “We’re playing the hybrid thing right now so he is going to be both,” said Gailey. ”What we think he brings to us is he...

Bills WR Johnson no sure thing for Sunday

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson did not practice Wednesday due to a shoulder ailment that could keep him out of this weekend's game against the rival Miami Dolphins.Johnson suffered the injury late in last week's thumping at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys. Buffalo head coach Chan Gailey remains cautiously optimistic that Johnson will play Sunday."We hope...

‘D’ has to lower comp. pct against

Buffalo’s defense the past two weeks has surrendered a completion percentage of almost 80 percent (79.6%) as Mark Sanchez and Tony Romo combined to go 43-54 passing. On the season the Bills are giving up a completion percentage of 65.7%. Chan Gailey offered his solutions for getting that figure down closer to the league average. “You have to do a couple of things,” he said...

Smith’s full game still on hold

The Bills addition of Brad Smith in free agency was anticipated to be one of intriguing versatility. A weapon to be used in many areas, but from the day he was signed head coach Chan Gailey warned that without a full offseason to evaluate and implement his talents into the playbook, using Smith to his full potential would prove difficult this season. “We don’t know all of what...

Stevie iffy for Miami game

Neither Bills receiver Stevie Johnson or safety George Wilson will practice today as a result of injuries they suffered in the team's loss at Dallas Sunday. Johnson suffered an injury to his shoulder area late in the game. He said he's hopeful of playing but was far from making guarantees. "We’ll see what happens when we make it to Sunday. ... I’m definitely...

Nesbitt update

Bills DB Josh Nesbitt, who was elevated to the active roster Tuesday, will have his playing status for Sunday riding on George Wilson’s health. That according to head coach Chan Gailey, who basically said that if Wilson can’t play Sunday in Miami then Nesbitt would see special teams work. “I think it will all be predicated on George’s health,” said Gailey. ”If George...

Wilson doubtful vs. Miami

---Strong safety George Wilson is doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins with a neck injury, although coach Chan Gailey holds out the slight hope that his defensive leader will be able to play. If Wilson can’t play, either veteran Bryan Scott or rookie Da’Norris Searcy will start at strong safety. Kicker Rian Lindell (shoulder) is out for the game. Wide receiver...
