PLAYERS: Buddy Nix
TEAMS: Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills Lead Smoke Screen Chatter With hours before the start of the NFL Draft, I have heard many rumors about teams interested in players and possible trades, but currently the Bills lead the way for the most scenarios. Despite our latest Mock Draft, I was starting to get the feeling that the Buffalo Bills were going to take SS Mark Baron with the 10th overall pick. Yet rumors are flying all over the place. A league source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to PFT’s Mike Florio that the Bills are interested in a left tackle and would make every effort to move up for USC Matt Kalil. Yet Bills GM Buddy Nix would prefer to trade down and use a later 1st-round pick on a tackle while gaining more depth. Up, down, staying put, which is it? The team seems to be all over the map. My guess is the Bills have players they really like, and scenarios for each possible outcome. I don’t think even the Bills know which direction they are headed tonight, as the price to move up wi...

Report: Bills like Michael Brockers

Earlier on Tuesday we mentioned that the Buffalo Bills are “extremely interested” in Alabama safety Mark Barron. Now we’re hearing that the Buffalo Bills like LSU defensive tackle Michael Brockers, according to Matt Miller of the Bleacher Report. If they end up drafting him, they would then think about moving Kyle Williams to defensive end. As we get closer to the NFL draft...

Bills Take Gilmore; Why He Will Be Successful In Buffalo

Last night the Buffalo Bills passed over wide receiver Michael Floyd and instead drafted corner back Stephon Gilmore from the University of South Carolina. Gilmore has the potential to become and, in my opinion, will become a top 10 corner in the NFL within the next 2-4 years. The reason being is simple – he doesn’t allow completions. In three full seasons at the USC, Gilmore...

"The Most Complete Cornerback" Goes to Buffalo

The NFL Draft Report called Stephon Gilmore “The Most Complete Cornerback.” The Buffalo Bills got him as the number 10 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. The 6-foot, 193-pound Gilmore was a three-year starter at USC.  In 40 games, Gilmore finished with eight interceptions, including four last season, seven sacks and 15 tackles for a loss. Gilmore ran a 4.4 second 40-yard dash at...

Buffalo Bills select Cordy Glenn, Grade A+

The Buffalo Bills continue to have a brilliant offseason. Cordy Glenn doesn’t solve the issue at right tackle, but the Bills will probably plug him in at right tackle and leave him there for the next decade. Glenn’s upside is relatively modest, which is probably why he fell, but I love this selection for the Bills because he is such a safe selection. He will be a quality starter...

Bills top pick Gilmore dreamed of NFL opportunity

Stephon Gilmore is not unlike many youngsters who dream of one day playing in the NFL. It's not every child who has to share that dream with their mother at 4 in the morning. That's the memory Gilmore's mother, Linda, has of being shaken awake from a dead sleep by her excited seven-year-old some 15 years ago. The dream that he was on an NFL team was so vivid that there...

Bills continue defensive overhaul with CB Gilmore

With Terrence McGee's injury history, Drayton Florence's aging legs and Leodis McKelvin's unfulfilled potential, cornerback was a position of a need on the backburner if not front burner for the Bills heading into the NFL Draft. And while help for the offense in the form of a left tackle or wide receiver would've been prudent and hard to argue against, general manager...

Breaking Down Buddy Nix’s Live Chat 4/24/12

Two days before the NFL Draft, Buddy Nix held a live chat on BuffaloBills.com.  I’ll be picking out comments made today by Buddy to help get a better idea on what the Bills are thinking at pick 10.  To read the entire chat head to the Buffalo Bills website.   On whether Justin Blackmon or Michael Floyd will be available at 10… Nix:  I think one of them will be there. I...

Buffalo Bills On The Rise in AFC East

Two years after starting the season 0-8, the Buffalo Bills hope to compete in the always crowded AFC East. Buffalo hopes that 2012 will be the first playoff season in over 12 years. The Bills certainly helped their cause by signing defensive end Mario Williams. Williams was arguably the best player on one of the top ranked defenses, Houston, last season. Buffalo General Manager...

Buffalo Bills Upgrade Offense On Day 2 Of Draft

Two more rounds in the books and Buffalo just continues to diligently address their needs with quality in the 2012 Draft. After taking the soft-spoken, yet tenacious Stephon Gilmore to shore up the defense, Buddy Nix and the Bills turned to offense in the second and third rounds, giving their "franchise" quarterback first some protection, then some speed on the outside...

NFL Draft Videostat Profile: WR Chris Owusu

We're switching gears and taking a look at some potential sleepers in this year's draft, starting off with Stanford's Chris Owusu: Positives When you have Andrew Luck as a QB, you learn things in a Pro style. Owusu is very fast, running a 4.31 – 4.36 at the combine in February. When healthy, he plays like a second or third rounder.  Reliable on the field, good...

NFL Draft Videostat Profile: WR T.Y. Hilton

T.Y. Hilton, WR, Florida International, 5’10, 185 lbs... Positives T.Y. Hilton is an undersized speedster who could climb into the middle rounds. He's an explosive receiver with shifty quickness and enough burst to run past defenders. He's has the skill set to take bubble screens and other short passes and make the most of them. Think of Hilton as a Wes Welker type...
