When it comes to booming punts, Buffalo Bills rookie Shawn Powell understands he's got big boots to fill when in it comes to replacing Brian Moorman.
And numerous players on Wednesday expressed surprise and shock by the team's decision to release Moorman a day earlier.
Defensive end Chris Kelsay was surprised by the timing. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick said Moorman's departure sent a shock through the locker room.
Moorman was a two-time Pro Bowl selection and in his 12th season in Buffalo.
Powell, an undrafted rookie out of Florida State, will take over the punting duties on Sunday, when Buffalo (2-1) hosts New England (1-2).
Powell's grateful for the opportunity in returning to Buffalo after being released by the team a week before the start of the season.
