When new coaches are hired in the NFL, you tend to see more turnover on a team than a normal off-season. The Bills wasted no time in getting started  releasing LB Nick Barnett and SS George Wilson this afternoon. “Moves like the ones we’ve made today are never easy, but we have to do what’s best for our team and keep moving forward,” said Bills GM Buddy Nix. Barnett led the Bills in tackles each of the last two seasons, totaling 112 or more tackles in each year. He was an integral part of the defense since he was signed in 2011. Barnett used his twitter account to thank the Bills and their fans for support over the last two years. “Thanks to all the great Fans and friends I have met in Western New York. It was truly a pleasure being apart of that organization and culture. Very unfortunate we didn’t get the Bills to the playoffs but I know you guys will have many successful years ahead of you. Thanks for all your support. Sad to leave but like they say when one door closes more open up. All in God’s hands.” The move makes the Bills even thinner at linebacker, a position they must certainly address in the draft and/or free agency. The Bills also parted ways with George Wilson as well. Wilson, one of the most outspoken players on the defense, will be missed on the field and in the locker room. He led the secondary in tackles with 78 tackles this season. Wilson signed with the Bills in 2004 as a free agent after being released from the Lions. When he came to Buffalo, he was buried on the depth chart before a position change to safety made him into a valuable starter beginning in 2008. After splitting time with Da’Norris Searcy, the Bills decided it was time to move on from Wilson and give the younger safety a chance to start. Barnett and Wilson were both entering the final year of their respective contracts that they signed with Buffalo prior to the 2011 season. Russ Brandon stated earlier in the off-season that everyone in the organization would be evaluated and they would look for top notch talent to improve overall. This could only be the beginning for the Bills and their new vision. The post Bills Part Ways with Barnett and Wilson appeared first on Queen City Sports.
