Bills' WR Smith unlikely to play against Patriots

Bills receiver Brad Smith is unlikely to play in Buffalo's season finale at New England after missing his second straight practice because of a hamstring injury. Coach Chan Gailey provided the update after practice Thursday, saying he doesn't see how Smith will be healed in time to play Sunday. Smith was hurt in the second half of a 40-14 win over Denver last weekend. He...

Not looking good for Smith

Bills QB/WR Brad Smith did not practice again on Thursday making him doubtful at best for Sunday’s season finale. Head coach Chan Gailey doesn’t think Smith will be healthy enough to play this weekend at New England. “It looks like he’s not going to make it,” said Gailey. “We’re holding out hope, but I just don’t see how he can (play). He’s got a hamstring that...

No Smith again

Head coach Chan Gailey wasn’t optimistic about Brad Smith being available for Sunday’s game and his absence from practice Friday pretty much seals it. Smith is not practicing for a third straight day due to a hamstring injury. Demetrius Bell and Kraig Urbik are the only other non-participants. Both have already been ruled out for Sunday.

Any run for Jasper today?

Could the recently called up Mike Jasper see any action against the Patriots today? Head coach Chan Gailey said earlier in the week that they wouldn’t just call a guy up for no reason, so it’s possible that he could see some time in goal line formations or on special teams alignments like field goal or field goal block. But unless the game is out of hand come the second half...

It’s not about limiting Welker’s catches

Likely forgotten by Bills fans in the first meeting between the Buffalo and New England, because the Bills finally won, was the fact that Wes Welker was virtually unstoppable with 16 catches for over 200 yards and a touchdown. But as Chan Gailey sees it the second time around, it’s not going to be about limiting Welker’s receptions. “You’d like to say just cover him tighter...

Hernandez missed 1st meeting

One thing to remember for Sunday’s Bills-Pats season finale is that New England’s high-powered offense didn’t have a key member healthy for the first meeting in Buffalo back in Week 3. The Patriots were without Aaron Hernandez in that game, who was out with an injury. It was one less passing weapon for the Bills to worry about. Since he’s been back in New England’s lineup...
