The Buffalo Bills on Monday announced that second-year offensive guard Michael Jasper has been released. A popular player with fans from the second he was made a seventh-round draft pick in 2011, Jasper was the last offensive lineman to see playing time in the team's pre-season opener against Washington, and head coach Chan Gailey gave a blunt assessment of his performance over the weekend. "Michael is struggling," Gailey said after the Redskins game. "Michael has got to learn his assignments. He’s got to learn to play physical every snap. A big, strong guy that’s got a lot of talent as we all know, but he’s got to be more physical and he’s got to continue to push through on assignments."

Buffalo Bills release OL Michael Jasper

The Buffalo Bills have released offensive lineman and former seventh-round pick Michael Jasper three weeks into training camp. Listed at 6-foot-4 and 375 pounds, Jasper spent much of his rookie season last year on the Bills practice squad before being activated for the final game. Jasper was regarded as a raw, untested talent, when the Bills took a slight gamble in drafting him...

Bills could cut Dwan Edwards, Terrence McGee

Every year at final cuts, there are several players who are experienced veterans who get cut, for various reasons. These guys are normally swooped up pretty quickly to play roles on other teams for less money, sometimes much less. Two of these guys for the Bills could easily be Dwan Edwards and Terrence McGee. McGee restructured his contract earlier this offseason, signing a 2 year...

Gailey's initial message resonates with Bills

Buffalo Bills safety George Wilson's eyes light up when reminded of the time coach Chan Gailey asserted himself in the face of hecklers at the close of his first training camp two years ago. For a hard-luck team searching for direction and identity, Gailey's message was welcome. He informed the hecklers that if they ''dog'' one player, they dog all of them...

Back still a bother for Bills DT Torell Troup

When Torell Troup elected to have back surgery in December, the Buffalo Bills defensive tackle thought it would help further his career. Some eight months later, he isn't so sure it was the right idea. Troup acknowledged this week he's had second thoughts about why he had the operation in which two discs were fused to repair a minor fracture in his spine. The trouble is...

Spiller must find ways to get on the field for Bills

C.J. Spiller enters the 2012 season as once again, the back up to Fred Jackson. Coming off an opportunity to show his worth, he only managed to rush for 100-yards once in the six games he started in replacement of the injured Fred Jackson. Jackson was off to a strong start for the Buffalo Bills, [...]

Training Camp Edition: Buffalo Bills Style

It was a beautiful summer night Saturday at the campus of St John Fisher College.  Football was in the air and the fans were in full attendance.  The wife and I made our yearly trek down the 90 from Buffalo to the Bills training camp.  For those who haven’t made the trip it is something any Bills fan should do.  The Bills really have things there down pat.  The setup is great...

Buffalo Bills Release Lineman Mike Jasper

The biggest gamble of the 2011 NFL Draft has not paid off for the Buffalo Bills, who have released offensive lineman Mike Jasper. The Bills used a seventh-round pick last year on Jasper, a 6' 4", 450-pound two-way player out of tiny Bethel College in Tennessee. He was only on the active roster for one game last season, during which he never took the field. After spending...

Buffalo Bills Offense Knows It Has to Play Better

The Buffalo Bills first preseason game wasn’t the best for the team offensively. Fans know it. Coaches know it. Players know it. And now the players are vowing to be better the next go-around. "It's only so long where you can be the old Bills getting beat around this conference," wide receiver Stevie Johnson told the Associated Press. "Preseason game...

Buffalo Bills: Preseason Game 1 Recap

After the first preseason game of the 2012-2013 season, the Buffalo Bills showed us one thing: They’re not ready yet.  Not even close. In the opening loss to the Redskins, the Bills had 14 penalties for 134 yards. The funny thing is that if Ryan Lindell didn’t miss a 22-yard field goal, the Bills would’ve won the game.  You can try and argue by saying, “Big deal...

Buffalo Bills Training Camp Battles: Arthur Moats Vs. Kirk Morrison

Photo Courtesy of BuffaloNews.com When the Buffalo Bills faced off against the Washington Redskins Thursday night to kick off their 2012-2013 campaign, Arthur Moats surprisingly earned the starting nod at outside linebacker over the veteran Kirk Morrison. Moats, a former sixth-round draft pick in 2010 out of James Madison was originally drafted with the hopes of him converting to...

Stevie Johnson Wants to Show Buffalo Bills He Belongs

Stevie Johnson didn’t think he would be playing with the Buffalo Bills after the 2011 season. While speaking with Yahoo! Sports, the wide receiver said he believed his time with the team was over after being held out of the season finale for an excessive-celebration penalty. “At that point, I was thinking I was done [...] [[ This is a content summary only. Ball downed on 4 yard line called a touchback?

In what was one of the more epic wrong calls of the pre-season so far, a replacement referee, for some reason known only to himself, said that a ball punted by Brian Moorman of the Buffalo Bills “…went into the endzone,” He then proceeded to call a touchback on the play. The ref blew his [...]

Stevie Johnson Calls Out Bills' Offense After Preseason Opener

Not good enough. That was the message delivered by receiver Stevie Johnson after the Buffalo Bills returned to practice Saturday, two days after the offense produced a preseason-opening dud. "It's only so long where you can be the old Bills getting beat around this conference," Johnson said. "Preseason game, practice, we've got to be better if we want to get...

Money talks and the Bills' defense must walk the walk

Now that the Buffalo Bills own the highest-paid defensive player in league history, their defense needs to be better in 2012. Not should be better. Not could be better. It needs to be better. But, ah, hold on a minute, I was always told by my coaches and inspiration posters in my high school hallways that there is no I in team. One person can't do it on their own, I was...
