The Buffalo Bills have signed free agent defensive lineman Alan Branch to a one-year contract.
The signing was announced Tuesday after Branch visited the team's facility.
Listed at 6-foot-6 and 325 pounds, Branch enters his seventh NFL season after spending the past two as a starter with the Seattle Seahawks. He played his first four seasons in Arizona after being selected early in the second round by the Cardinals in the 2007 draft out of Michigan.
He had four of his eight career sacks with the Seahawks.
Branch is regarded as a solid run stuffer, and has the versatility of being able to play every defensive line position.
The Bills' defense is in transition under new coordinator Mike Pettine, who's noted for his aggressive approach with the New York Jets.

Russell Wilson had a pretty decent college career for three years at North Carolina State and one at Wisconsin. In his career he threw for 11,720 yards with 109 touchdowns and only 30 interceptions. But because he was only 5’11" he fell to the third round and was picked by the Seattle Seahawks. Russell showed that height doesn’t matter and he rocketed the Seahawks to...
The Oakland Raiders never find a way to get things just right as their acquisition of Matt Flynn certainly proves.
The Raiders are not a team that needs a backup quarterback who had a couple of nice games a couple of years ago.
