Joe Buscaglia tweets that he’s growing “less optimistic by the day” that the Bills will be able to reach an agreement with free agent G Andy Levitre.
Buscaglia adds that there’s a good chance that Buffalo is able to retain safety Jairus Byrd, most likely by way of the franchise tag.
If it comes down to Byrd or Levitre for the Bills, the team would be well-suited to allow Levitre walk as it’s typically much easier to replace a guard in the draft.
According to Pro Football Focus, Levitre was the ninth-best guard in the NFL last season while Byrd was the second-best safety.
We have Levitre listed as the No. 18 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
