Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone doesn't believe receiver Robert Woods will be able play at Pittsburgh this weekend because of a sore left ankle. Marrone provided the update after the rookie missed practice Wednesday. Marrone was a little more optimistic about the chances of rookie receiver Marquise Goodwin's chances of playing after he missed practice with a strained hamstring. Marrone said Goodwin was expected to return to practice on a limited basis on Thursday. Both receivers were hurt in a 23-13 loss to Kansas City on Sunday. Woods, a second-round pick, was hurt late in the third quarter, when he tumbled out of bounds attempting to make a catch. He has 26 catches for 349 yards and two touchdowns. --- AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org

Manuel's return gives Bills boost

The Buffalo Bills' monthlong shuffle at quarterback is coming to an end after rookie starter EJ Manuel returned to practice Wednesday. Manuel's presence on the field, and the expectation that he'll be ready to step in immediately and start against the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-6) on Sunday, has provided the Bills a much-needed lift. ''Yeah, we're excited to...

Bills’ E.J. Manuel cleared to play, Robert Woods day-to-day

Give clearance to play and get back on the field, Buffalo Bills quarterback, E.J. Manuel, could play against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday reports Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com. Manuel is feeling good, telling reporters: Been working out on it the past week and had a good workout (Sunday) before the game. It felt really good. It was good to get out there in the cold too...

QB E.J. Manuel will be a 'full go' in practice, will start Sunday if no setback

The Buffalo Bills have cleared quarterback E.J. Manuel to return to practice after his knee surgery and CEO Russ Brandon said Wednesday that the team’s coaches would evaluate Manuel’s progress during practice this week.

Buffalo Bills waste huge opportunity against Chiefs

The defense was good enough. The running game was good enough. But the passing game let the Buffalo Bills down when they needed it the most as they coughed up a winnable game to the Kansas City Chiefs. Buffalo Bills fans were once again reminded of the perils of a rookie starter as coordinator Nathaniel Hackett was only able to mask the ineptitude of Jeff Tuel for the first half...

The Curious Case Of Matt Flynn

The concept of the ‘contract year’ is prevalent in professional sports. Players commonly outperform expectations in the final year of their contracts, setting themselves up for a tasty payday. However, career backup quarterback Matt Flynn has found himself in an intriguing, albeit soul crushing predicament as the victim of a much more rarely occurring phenomenon: the contract game...

C.J. Spiller Headed For Bigger Workload?

Buffalo head coach Doug Marrone expects to give running back C.J. Spiller even more touches next week against the Steelers. SOURCE: Joe Buscaglia, WGR 550Fantasy Spin:Spiller's ankle injury is no longer an issue as evidenced by his breakout game last week versus Kansas City (12 rushes for 116 yards). Spiller and his backfield mate Fred Jackson will both be worth starting this...

Second Take with Brad Gelber – Bills Conspiracy Theorists: Please Shut Up

The Buffalo Bills found themselves leading this week against the NFL’s only remaining unbeaten team, despite having their backup’s backup playing QB. Sunday’s game was only the second time this season that the KC Chiefs went into half time trailing. As nice as that all sounds, the Bills found a way to lose the game… again. While I understand this team is “heading in the...

Bills' EJ Manuel expected to start

After being sidelined for more than a month with a sprained LCL, Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel is expected to start Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Manuel, who returned to practice Wednesday, was again a full participant Thursday. "EJ wasn't sore or anything yesterday. That was the one thing we were waiting for," coach Doug Marrone said Thursday. "...

E.J. Manuel With Room To Improve

Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback EJ Manuel was cleared by team doctors to return to practice and game action this week. With the doctors behind him Manuel will be front and center when he returns to the lineup this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In expectation of his return here are three things Manuel needs to improve upon throughout the rest of the season.1.) Decision...

Stop the Run, Stop the Bills

We've been saying it all week: the Steelers rushing defense is 31st and the Bills rushing offense is 7th. That's an enormous mismatch. This team has been run all over by a few teams this year, most notably New England, Minnesota, and Oakland. The Steelers defense simply has to stop the Bills' C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson in order to win the game at Heinz Field. Case...

Bills Starting Offense Includes Three Former Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Buffalo Bills this coming Sunday and their offense will include three players who will look mighty familiar. Left guard Doug Legursky, who played in 55 games for the Steelers from 2009-2012, will presumably make his fifth straight start at left guard for the Bills Sunday at Heinz Field. An unrestricted free agent this past offseason, the Steelers...

Bills QB Manuel (knee) set to return

Team president Russ Brandon says Bills rookie starting quarterback EJ Manuel should be ready to return to play at Pittsburgh on Sunday,

Steelers Own Buffalo

History has not been kind to the Steelers this season. They've managed to be bad in all sorts of ways that we never knew possible. While they have played teams they've had statistical advantages against like the Vikings, Raiders, and even the Patriots, they haven't been able to win. So looking at the Bills, we see that the Steelers have some big advantages in a...

Marrone to E.J.: Line between competitive, smart

BY NICK ST. DENISBuffalo Bills rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel is set for his return Sunday after missing the last four games. Manuel injured his knee Week 4 against the Cleveland Browns while trying to squeeze out an extra yard on a sideline scramble. This time around, the Bills hope to keep him on the field a little longer. To do that, Buffalo needs Manuel to do a better job of protecting...
