According to Joe Buscaglia of WGR 550 in Buffalo, it looks like there could be a chance that wide receiver Brad Smith may not have a role within the Bills’ new offense. Since Doug Marrone was hired, the Bills have drafted two receivers in the top three rounds, signed a highly touted undrafted free agent and we’ve heard the front office boast about both Stevie Johnson and Marcus Easley. The man that hasn’t been factored in at this point? Brad Smith. The Wildcat extraordinaire may not have a place on this roster with a new offense, a new bundle of young receivers that require time on the field and an incredibly high salary for someone that likely won’t contribute a whole lot in 2013. He is firmly atop the list. No one knows what the Bills will do, but Joe’s point of view makes a lot of sense.  Smith isn’t a great receiver and I don’t think Marrone will be using the wildcat.     Need NFL Tickets?

Marrone cautious in assessing Bills QB Manuel

Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone is keeping his expectations in check when it comes to assessing quarterback EJ Manuel. Marrone wasn't in a position to award Manuel the starting job when the Bills drafted him in the first round out of Florida State two weeks ago. And the coach certainly didn't have a change of heart after keeping a close eye on the quarterback Friday, when...

Is the world ready for another O.J. Simpson trial? We could be heading that way.

Buffalo Bills Select Robert Woods in Second Round

2.09 Buffalo Bills Robert Woods, WR, USC, (6-0,201) It didn’t take the Bills too long to find another receiver to play alongside Stevie Johnson and grow with their rookie QB, EJ Manuel. Woods has the speed and quickness to make a difference right away. He is the type of player that can run any route, short, intermediate and long. He also is willing to block downfield, which is...

Buffalo Bills Made Bold Moves in 2013 NFL Draft

No one can accuse the Buffalo Bills of playing it safe in this year’s draft. GM Buddy Nix made a number of high-risk, high-reward moves and picks, and the success of the franchise over the next few years hinges on whether or not they pay off. The Bills opened the draft with a big trade with St. Louis, trading down and swapping their first and third round picks for the Rams‘...

Bills sign 4 draft picks before rookie camp opens

The Buffalo Bills are wasting little time locking up their rookie prospects after signing four more draft selections, including receiver Marquise Goodwin. Doubling as a track star, Goodwin is a speedy yet raw prospect who was drafted in the third round, 78th overall, out of Texas. The Bills also signed fourth-round pick, defensive back Duke Williams; fifth-round pick, defensive...

Admitting the raw rookie needs work on his ‘footwork and mechanics,’ Bills coach Doug Marrone should have E.J. Manuel hold a clipboard this autumn

Noting the raw rookie needs work on his “footwork and mechanics,” Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone seemed to acknowledge E.J. Manuel is nowhere near ready to start as an NFL quarterback. As the 2013 Senior Bowl MVP and a 2012 second team All-ACC selection, Buffalo took the 23-year-old Manuel out of Florida State with the 16th pick in last month’s draft. Although brimming...

Bills Rookie Camp: Day 1 Notes on the Draft Picks

The 2013 Bills rookies officially put in their first day of work. Unfortunately, we here at Queen City Sports could not be in attendance for the rookie camp, but thanks to Joe Buscaglia of WGR550 and WGRZ’s Jonah Javad, we have a good idea on how the rookies performed. Buscaglia’s piece and Javad’s tweets mashed together in this article as well as my thoughts. Sit back and...

Bills coach Doug Marrone a fan of deferring to second half

The pre-game coin toss in the NFL is far from an exact science. When given the choice, some coaches prefer to always get the ball first while others would rather have the fallback of a possession to open the third quarter.Consider Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone in the latter camp."I like having the ball at halftime on offense because I think adjustments are big," Marrone...
