It is no secret that I have given Brady Quinn a hard time throughout his NFL career, but this Sunday something happened which put me firmly in the young man’s corner. Jim Rome opened his show this morning with the below soundbite and I couldn’t be more happy about it being shared around like it is.  Quinn spoke briefly on the Jovan Belcher situation and in the process made an important statement on the importance of really getting to know people and being ‘present’ when you are around folks.  Listen, learn, and love folks. “What could I have done different. When you ask someone how their doing, do you really mean it? When answer someone back ‘how are you doing’ are you telling the truth? We live in a society of social networks, of Twitter pages, of Facebook. That’s fine and stuff, but we have contact with our work associates, our family, our friends, and it seems like half the time we are more pre-occupied with our phone and other things going on instead of the actual issues in fron...

Brady Quinn speaks eloquently about tragedy

It's hard to know exactly how the Kansas City Chiefs players should have felt after the bizarre murder-suicide by teammate Jovan Belcher.  But it might be even harder to put it into words. Somehow, Chiefs quarterback Brady Quinn took a few moments after the teams victory Sunday to try and put the whole thing into perspective and did a superb job in his heartfelt press conference...

Brady Quinn Gets His Linus Moment

Near the end of A Charlie Brown Christmas, Charlie Brown gets depressed and starts screaming about how there’s nobody left who knows what Christmas is all about, then gets abruptly shocked to silence when Linus walks to center-stage, asks for lights and delivers an impassioned reading of Luke 2:8. It cuts through the ********, and gets to the heart of the matter. It’s even...

Chiefs and Brady Quinn should be commended for play and attitude amid adversity

Tragedy struck the Kansas City area on Saturday morning.  Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend and mother of his 3 month old baby before turning the gun on himself and committing suicide in Arrowhead Stadium's parking lot. How does a team, after suffering such a horrifying event, go out and play football? To take the words from Coach...

Links of the Day 12/4/12

I’m fairly sure I pulled a muscle in my back at the gym today. Keep that in mind when you judge my poorly written posts. Here are the top non BCS Bowls this year. Neither Purdue or Minnesota appears on this list. This is a heck of a play by the increasingly great Andrew Luck. I know I have said a lot of mean things about Brady Quinn, mostly because of his time at Notre Dame, but...
