Brandon Boykin has a shot to start early for the Philadelphia Eagles—on special teams: …Brandon Boykin, the team’s fourth-round pick out of the University of Georgia, figures to go to Lehigh as the No. 1 kickoff and punt returner for a unit that suffered in both departments last year. “They didn’t do much at all last year in terms of returns,’’ a pro scout for an Eagles opponent said. “They really don’t use (DeSean) Jackson as much as they did and that’s understandable. They needed to do something.’’ That’s where Boykin, a small, but strong and elusive runner, enters the picture. Last year, he averaged 22.4 yards on 38 kickoffs, down from the 24.1 yards he averaged as a junior and 12.9 yards on 14 punt returns, in his first try at that. Boykin was rated the second best returnman in the draft by Pro Football Weekly behind only Arkansas’ Joe Adams, who went 14 picks higher in the fourth round to the Carolina Panthers.
