Yesterday former Ravens special teams stalwart Brendon Ayanbadejo backtracked from a statement he made in which he stated that the Ravens cut him because of his gay rights activism.
Lost in those statements was a larger statement that seems to have gone unnoticed in the past 24 hours. Ayanbadejo indicated to the Baltimore Sun ”that four gay NFL players could all come out at the same time” to take some of the pressure off of it just being one guy.
“I think it will happen sooner than you think,” Ayanbadejo said. “We’re in talks with a handful of players who are considering it. There are up to four players being talked to right now and they’re trying to be organized so they can come out on the same day together. It would make a major splash and take the pressure off one guy. It would be a monumental day if a handful or a few guys come out.
