Remember back in 2007 when HBO’s series “Hard Knocks” decided to follow around the Kansas City Chiefs? If you recall, one of the major plot lines during that season was the battle for the starting quarterback spot between the savvy veteran, Damon Huard, and the young, up-and-comer, Brodie Croyle.
The series devoted quite a bit of time to Croyle (and his wife) and showed plenty of scenes where head coach Herm Edwards and Chiefs’ management gushed over the youngster from Alabama. They talked about how Croyle could do things and make throws that no one else could and that he was just a special player.
Well on Saturday the San Diego Chargers beat the pants off of that special player. Croyle, who hadn’t started a game since the opener in 2009, was filling in for injured starter Matt Cassel, who had his appendix removed earlier in the week.
