NFL Injury Report:
While the Denver Broncos are 7-1 and are only one game behind the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West, they have shown chinks in their once thought impregnable armor recently. The Broncos entertained the idea of losing a second game in-a-row, but ultimately rattled off 38 unanswered points to easily dispose of the turnover heavy Washington Redskins. The Broncos bright future has slightly dimmed, as two of their best young talents, tight end Julius Thomas and safety Duke Ihenacho, both suffered ankle sprains and did not return to action.
Thomas is slated to have an MRI this afternoon, taking to Twitter to ease the angst of the fantasy football and mile high world. Initial rumors are that it is a minor sprain, but let’s wait until the MRI results are revealed to go any further:
Appreciate all the well wishes! Find out tomorrow what’s up with the injury. Will keep you all posted

Ihenacho has been a crucial element within the Broncos defense this season, as the undrafted free agent has made a name for himself, surpassing veteran safety Mike Adams on the depth chart and placing second on the team in tackles behind linebacker Danny Trevathan. While the Broncos have allowed plenty of points in 2013, their run defense is the third-best in the league, with Ihenacho providing the boom and forcing two fumbles to add to his tackle total. Ihenacho was seen wearing a boot after the game, but further details are undisclosed.
Both players will be missed should their injuries be worse than originally perceived. The Broncos have a bye this week, allowing their wounded a two-week span in which to heal. They Broncos are deep enough to handle the injuries, with the very capable (great rapport with Peyton Manning) Joel Dreessen backing up Thomas, and the aforementioned Adams already familiar with the intricacies of Jack Del Rio’s defense.

BEST OF MAXIM
Denver Broncos tight end Julius Thomas has had a break out year this year and has been a huge target for Peyton Manning. Thomas is big and and fast and he is a matchup nightmare for defenses. Last week when the Broncos were facing the Redskins Thomas went down with an ankle injury and it looked to be somewhat serious. Ankle injuries can be tricky to deal with because of how nagging...
The Broncos offense has scored 40 touchdowns through the first eight weeks of the season which is the most in NFL history. Some of those touchdowns came from Peyton’s security blanket and newly discovered Julius Thomas. Well today Julius Thomas will be at the doctor’s office getting an MRI on his ankle. On the opening […]
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has two sprained ankles, reports ESPN. Manning suffered both ankle sprains during Denver’s victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The first ankle sprain happened on the Broncos’ first offensive play against the Jaguars, ESPN sources said. The four-time MVP sustained the second sprain when he was hit low by
Knowshon Moreno was one of the most hated Broncos players last year, before Peyton Manning arrived in town. Now he is known as one of the top fantasy backs in the NFL. The Denver Broncos running back put up 133 all-purpose yards and scored a touchdown in the Week 8 win over the Washington Redskins. […]
The Denver Broncos' defensive secondary had a big day Sunday with safety Rahim Moore and cornerbacks Chris Harris and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie responsible for three of the team's four interceptions. The unit that has been banged up and missing leader CB Champ Bailey helped the Broncos rout the Redskins 45-21. Coach John Fox was happy with the play and that the secondary...
According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is dealing with sprained ankles. One of them is a high ankle sprain. Both of P. Knowshon Moreno has been a nice story of redemption since the second-half of last season.
His story, though, is getting a little too good. The Broncos want to spell him more. Less now — more later.
And so Montee Ball and C.J. Anderson will get a chance to prove they can ably spell Moreno today against the Washington Redskins.
In the Broncos’ previous two games, Moreno had...
Hey, hey, hey…slow down! It’s Week 8 already? This season is going way too fast. Pretty much like how certain teams can put up points on the scoreboard, quickly. Eleven teams, thus far, this season are averaging at least 25 points per game, which is on pace to be the most in a season in NFL history. Among those quick scorers, or late point grabbers who are milking up garage...
In a game Denver needed to win to gain back some of the incredible momentum they had built up prior to the surprising defeat in Indy last week, the Broncos started fast, stalled, and then finally looked like the team that was a pre-season super bowl favorite. There are still some problems that need to be addressed, but the game was nearly exactly what the team needed. The...
In a mild surprise, given the extent of the left leg injuries he suffered two weeks ago, Orlando Franklin was the Broncos' starting right offensive tackle Sunday.
"It tells you we've got some tough guys on this team," Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning said.
And Manning is one of them. He suffered an ankle injury two games ago while getting hit in the end zone...
Robert Griffin III's right knee was surgically repaired and rehabbed back to full strength during this past offseason. His left knee prevented him from finishing Sunday's 45-21 loss to the Broncos.
The second-year quarterback was knocked out in the fourth quarter and was immediately listed as questionable to return. He never did.
Head coach Mike Shanahan said that Griffin...
Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning has been re-writing the NFL record book in the first few weeks of the regular season, throwing the ball at a torrid pace. Manning missed a practice this week as it was reported he was dealing with an ankle injury. This morning, it was reported that Manning has injury issues with both ankles.
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting on Twitter that Manning...
In an unexpected twist, Peyton Manning was the one who needed some bailing out.
On a day when the Denver Broncos quarterback threw three interceptions and lost a fumble, Von Miller and the defense stepped up in a 45-21 win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday.
The much-maligned defensive unit - last in the league against the pass - harassed Robert Griffin III all afternoon. The...

Manning and the Broncos suffered their first loss of the season last Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts and will look to get back into the win column against the Washington Redskins today.

According to Chuck Carroll of CBS DC, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III suffered an injury to his left knee during Sunday’s loss to the Broncos.
The good news is that it’s not his surgically repaired right knee.
The biggest concern for the Washington Redskins Sunday isn’t a 45-21 drubbing at the hands of the Denver Broncos. It is the health of Robert Griffin...
