Broncos scouts reportedly attended 2023 Heisman finalist's pro day

The Denver Broncos might be keeping tabs on a 2023 Heisman finalist before the NFL Draft on April 25-27.

Per Mike Klis of KUSA-TV in Denver, Broncos scouts Sae Woon Jo and Dave Bratten attended Bo Nix's (Oregon) pro day.

Klis noted the Broncos plan to draft a QB (possibly with the 12th overall pick) and sign or trade for another offensive signal-caller — Washington's Sam Howell or free agent Ryan Tannehill, for example — to replace Russell Wilson. Backup Jarrett Stidham went 1-1 in two starts last season and posted a below-average 31.1 QBR.

Nix could be available when the Broncos make their selection. In his latest mock draft, NFL Media's Charles Davis had Denver choosing the 24-year-old.

Nix completed 77.4 percent of his passes in 14 games during his final season at Oregon, the best completion percentage in NCAA history, via CBS Sports. He also threw for 4,508 yards, 45 TDs and posted an outstanding 91.2 QBR.

Nix's precise passing might attract head coach Sean Payton. He coached former New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees from 2006-20. The future Hall of Famer finished with the second-highest completion percentage (67.7 percent) in league history.

"Some of his gaudy production has been driven by the Oregon offense's design, but his talent clearly stands out," wrote NFL.com's Lance Zierlein. "I've harbored bias from watching the overwhelmed version of Nix during his Auburn days, but as the saying goes, 'tape doesn't lie.' Nix appears more than ready to attack the league with an NFL-caliber skill set."

Clearly, Nix has the tools to develop into a dependable starter and could be a decent pick for the Broncos.
