IRVING - Linebacker Keith Brooking had trouble fighting his way to ball carriers in the Dallas Cowboys' 34-27 loss to Tennessee, but he cut to the heart of the matter with ease when asked how the club can eliminate the mistakes that doomed it to a disappointing 1-3 start.

"Don't do it," the veteran linebacker said Monday. "It's pretty simple. Everybody is looking for answers. That's the answer - don't do it."

Committing 12 penalties for 133 yards and registering a minus-3 turnover ratio were among the most glaring of the Cowboys' sins on day when the three other NFC East teams all won.

It was the kind of sloppy performance Dallas' stunned fans have come to expect from a team that held so much promise at the start of the season.
