Despite reports that it's a done deal, and probably is at this point, we're still awaiting Oregon head coach Chip Kelly to sign on the dotted line. Make no mistake, Chip Kelly is close to striking a deal to become the 14th full-time head coach of the Browns, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Friday. Jimmy Haslam and CEO Joe Banner traveled to Arizona and met for seven hours in what was reported as "very positive,” by ESPN’s Chris Mortensen. But Kelly left and traveled for a Friday night meeting with the Buffalo Bills, and then he's off to Philadelphia for another interview. Sounds like a done deal? No. But wait. Kelly told Haslam and Banner he wanted to go through the process by meeting with the Bills and Eagles. “I want to get it wrapped up quickly and figure out where I’m going to be,” Kelly said. So, he'll will be meeting with the Browns again tonight, and tonight is when they'll likely, and officially get their man. var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});

  • Glad to see the Browns making that leap towards innovation instead of a recycled coach.
