While the fans are sitting around and screaming to get rid of Brandon Weeden already, it seems like the head coach is still giving the rookie a vote of confidence. Browns coach Pat Shurmur said this about rookie QB Brandon Weeden today in a press conference.

“Brandon Weeden is our starter and he’s going to get better,” Shurmur said.

Weeden was horrible in his first game with his 5.1 QB rating being 10 times worse than Michael Vick’s 51.0 mark even though Vick (also) threw four interceptions. Weeden’s first start was horrible, but he do not lose your hope yet, Browns fans.  He will get into a grind, but Weeden’s 5.1 QB rating was 7.2 points worse than Robert Griffin III’s yards per attempt.

Weeden wasn’t going to lose his job after one bad start, but the pressure is certainly on, especially with the fans now screaming Colt McCoy.  I don’t think the Browns fans will see Colt 45 for a minute, so just hold tight Brownie’s fans.

Weeden insists he's not overwhelmed

Despite throwing four interceptions in Cleveland's loss to Philadelphia, Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden claims he wasn't overwhelmed in his first NFL start.

Weeden struggles with deep ball

Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden was in over his head on Sunday, and the more the stats are analyzed the worse it looks. It was a long afternoon for Weeden. It was apparent during the game that Weeden was struggling with the deep and intermediate passes, overthrowing multiple open receivers. According to Pro Football Focus, Weeden was 0-7 with two interceptions on balls...

(Video) Browns QB Brandon Weeden Got Caught Under the American Flag

Cleveland Browns QB Brandon Weeden got caught under the American Flag. You'd think he'd be old enough to avoid the flag guys. Why not click the Google +1 & the retweet buttons? **Follow us on... Full story at Bob's Blitz ~ http://www.bobsblitz.com

Browns confident Weeden will improve after clunker

Browns coach Pat Shurmur dismissed any concern about rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden, who struggled terribly in his NFL debut. Weeden threw four interceptions in Sunday's 17-16 loss to Philadelphia. The first-round pick completed 12 of 35 passes for 118 yards and finished with a 5.1 rating, one of the lowest by a QB in a season opener since the merger in 1970. Shurmur is...

Barnwell / Grantland bury Pat Shurmur for extra point decision

It was hot debate all day long and there were hypotheticals going all over the place. Ultimately most fans seemed to decide that even if it was the wrong decision, there were many other much larger issues in need of discussion. Brandon Weeden’s overall performance and appearance of lack of preparation come to mind. Bill Barnwell at Grantland ups the stakes a bit with his statistical...

Shurmur dismisses “clamoring for Colt,” insists Weeden will start

Despite a 5.1 quarter back rating and a game where he turned the ball over six times, head coach Pat Shurmur told reports Brandon Weeden will start week two (Credit: AP Photo) After an abysmal start to the season, one in which he finished the game with a 5.1 quarterback rating, Cleveland Browns fans are already questioning whether or not quarterback Brandon Weeden should be the...

Who’s More FAIL: Brandon Weeden’s Patriotic Debut Or The Bears Tailgate Stripper?

As I perused the sports news this morning, I noticed a few things. For starters, a bunch of running backs had awesome games, which sucks for a guy like me who wants to sell high on Kevin Smith and Alfred Morris. Second, Jon Hamm is still my favorite St. Louis Cardinals fan and he’s packing heat. Third, Rihanna apparently performed at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Paralympics...

Quinton Spears Tweet Insinuates ‘Politics’ At Play On Browns Roster

Former Browns linebacker Quinton Spears sent a not-so-sublte tweet jab at the organization on Sunday: It doesn’t take a great leap of faith to imply that he’s talking about Pat Shumur’s decision to start Brandon Weeden over Colt McCoy. Weeden had a disastrous debut on Sunday, throwing four interceptions and failing to move the offense much at all. When asked to clarify, Spears...

#32 Cleveland Browns Week 2 NFL Power Rankings

Yikes. 12 of 35 for 118 yards and 4 interceptions. That is one of the worst quarterback performances I’ve ever seen. It’s pretty clear, Weeden, despite his age, is not a nearly finished product. It wasn’t all his fault; his supporting cast sucks. He’ll also probably improve as the season goes on, but this offense is incredibly young and will have many growing pains, to say...

Growing Pains apparent for the Browns

Growing Pains...and I'm sure as hell not referring to the 1980's sitcom with that pop star's father and the homophobe teen heartthrob. Growing pains are going to be abundant with your 2012 Cleveland Browns--if it wasn't clear earlier, it smacked us all in the face on Sunday.  Not many Browns fans would have thought the team would be within a point of the Eagles in...

Bad Day for Vick in Dawg Pound: Eagles Still Can’t Give Game to Browns

“[I]t’s not what anyone expected from the golden-armed redhead on opening day.” — Mary Kay Cabot on Brandon Weeden “I did not see a guy that was starry-eyed. Not at all. … I’m not discouraged at all.” — Pat Shurmur on Brandon Weeden “Aw, man, I gotta get out of Cleveland. I gotta get out of Cleveland.” — Michael Vick on Cleveland ————— If you wondered...

Adam Caplan breaks down second viewing of Browns vs. Eagles

It’s always fun when your favorite team plays another team with a good analyst and commentator. Adam Caplan is one of those guys. He is good for news from all over the league, but when it comes to the Eagles and his job with that team it is on another level. He re-watched the game against the Eagles and had some pretty interesting observations, some of which you probably saw and...

Cleveland, You Make Me Laugh

I knew it would come. I just didn’t expect it to happen this fast. Four months ago I was upbraided by a throng of BoneHeads (Cleveland’s version of a cheese head) for questioning the Browns’ receivers and the wisdom of dumping yet another QB. I was colorfully informed that the sum total of all of Cleveland’s problems in 2011 rested solely with Colt McCoy. Replacing him would...
