Browns may have accidentally put a target on Deshaun Watson’s back for the 2024 season

Cleveland Browns will ride as far as Deshaun Watson can take them this season.

The Browns badly need Watson to finally live up to what they traded for him and there is no better time to do it than year No. 3.

In a recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Browns GM Andrew Berry may have put a bit of a target on Watson, though it should be the expectation.

"We do expect to hit the ground running on that side of the ball, and I know he is very excited about returning to the playing field and getting over this injury. We do have high expectations for him and the offense this season,” Berry explained.

Watson played in just six games last year and did not play after Week 10 because of his shoulder injury. In two seasons with the Browns, Watson has played in just 12 games between the suspension and the injury.

"We feel very good about the transition. He is in a good spot mentally and physically. Obviously, he's been rehabbing the shoulder injury, but he is well on his way there and in a really strong spot. I think he's a lot more comfortable within the organization. You know, we have a core group of guys on offense that have now played together for a number of years.”

Watson will start the season for the Browns healthy is the plan and they’ll likely take it slow with him this summer in preparation for that. If No. 4 can’t figure it out this season, the Browns will be looking forward to when they can move on from his contract.
